Today, we say goodbye to an extraordinary man, Ron Davis. Through the Davis Methods , Ron has changed my life and my family’s lives and the lives of millions around the world. His legacy will live on through us for generations to come.

RIP Ron Davis 🙏😔❤️ THANK YOU.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Ronald D. Davis, founder of the Davis Method and creator of the programs that have changed how the world understands dyslexia, autism, and neurodivergent learning.

Ron grew up in a world he experienced as chaotic and painful. He didn't speak until he was 17. He couldn't read until his late 30s. And when he finally found his own way through it, he spent the rest of his life building a path for others to follow.

Ron believed that what he had created was not his to keep. It belonged to every facilitator who carried it forward, and every person whose life it changed. As he put it: "It cannot be unowned. If it's unowned, it will disappear." He entrusted that work to all of us, and the worldwide Davis community will continue to carry it forward.

Thank you, Ron, for everything you gave the world; for the millions of people who now see their own minds differently because of you; for seeing ability and possibility where others saw only limitations.

🌿 TOOLBOX THURSDAY | FREE RESOURCE

My Future Planning Toolkit

Earlier this week, My Transition Planning Tool helped children explore what is changing, how they feel about it and what they need from the adults around them.

But once we understand the transition, what can we actually do with that information?

Today’s FREE resource is about turning understanding into action.

My Future Planning Toolkit gives children practical ideas they can choose from to help them prepare for what comes next.

They might decide to:

👀 visit a new place or look at photographs
🎒 practise a new journey or routine
📅 use a calendar or countdown
🤝 work out who will stay connected with them
🏡 keep something familiar close by
💭 decide what they can do if things feel too much
⭐ choose something to look forward to

Rather than expecting a child to come up with all the answers themselves, the toolkit offers possibilities they can tick, circle or colour according to what feels useful to them.

There is also space to choose their own strategies, tell adults what support they need and come back afterwards to think about what actually helped.

Because participation shouldn’t end once we have heard what a child thinks.

What they tell us should shape what happens next. 💜

Just thinking out loud here. 🫣 Where is our summer going? Rainy days like this make me wonder…

It’s already dark when we wake up. My favourite part of summer is seeing the beautiful sky at 6:00 in the morning. My brain is not quite ready to accept that summer is ending. 😔

I’m not sure if it’s a neurodivergent thing or not, but I definitely need time to adjust at this time of year. 🫣☺️

The Davis Autism Approach® was created by an autistic person, Ron Davis.
That's not a small detail. It's the whole point.

Ron didn't design a program to make autistic people more convenient for the world around them. He created tools that help autistic individuals understand themselves, their strengths, their thinking style, how their brain processes the world.

Because when you understand yourself, you don't need external approval to stand in who you are.

That's what acceptance actually looks like, not from other people, but from yourself.
