For those considering the upcoming Yoga Nidra Series beginning Sept 10 at 4pm, I wanted to share a bit more about the clinical benefits of this practice.

Yoga Nidra is a guided, structured relaxation shown to support parasympathetic activation, reduce muscle tension, and improve sleep quality. Many clients use it to help regulate stress responses, manage fatigue, and support overall nervous system resilience as we move into seasonal change.

Each session includes gentle preparatory movement followed by a clinically informed Yoga Nidra practice designed to:

***Down‑regulate the stress response through breath, body scanning, and systematic relaxation

***Improve interoceptive awareness to help you better recognize early signs of overload

***Support emotional regulation by creating a safe, structured container for rest

***Enhance restorative sleep patterns through guided sensory withdrawal and deep rest

If you’re exploring ways to support your health this fall — especially if you’re experiencing stress, disrupted sleep, or persistent fatigue — this series may be clinically appropriate and deeply beneficial.

If you’d like to discuss whether it’s a good fit for your needs, feel free to reach out. I’m happy to offer guidance.

What is yoga therapy, and how is it different from a regular yoga class?

Yoga therapy is new to my offerings, and it’s something I’m truly excited to share. Here’s a simple way to understand how it works and why it can be so helpful.

Yoga therapy is a one‑to‑one, clinically informed process that uses movement, breath, mindfulness, and lifestyle guidance to support specific health concerns. It’s not about being flexible or “good at yoga.” It’s about showing up as you are and learning tools that help your body and nervous system find steadiness over time.

A yoga therapist looks at the whole person—your physical patterns, breath habits, stress responses, sleep, digestion, energy, and the lived experience of your symptoms. The goal isn’t to fix you; it’s to help you understand what’s happening and build practices that support healing from the inside out.

People often seek yoga therapy for:
-Chronic pain
-Spine‑related concerns
-Inflammation or injury recovery
-Stress + burnout
-Anxiety, low mood, grief
-Sleep difficulties
-Chronic conditions needing whole‑system support

Yoga therapy doesn’t replace medical care—it complements it by helping you work with the patterns underneath your symptoms: how you breathe, how you respond to stress, how you sleep, and how your nervous system holds your experiences.

If you’re curious whether yoga therapy might be supportive for what you’re navigating, you’re always welcome to reach out.
Warmly,
Julie

Thank you all so much for your kind words and support in my last post. It truly means a lot. 💛

Since you’ve been hearing me talk about Ayurveda for the last few years, you might have wondered, “What the heck is she talking about?” So I thought I’d share a little clarity.

🌿 What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is one of the world’s traditional medical systems — much like Western medicine, Chinese medicine, or Greek/Unani medicine. It originated in India thousands of years ago and is still practiced globally today.

The word comes from Sanskrit:
• Ayur = life
• Veda = knowledge or science

Ayurveda simply means “the science of life.”

🕉️ Common Sanskrit terms you may have heard
• Agni — digestive fire
• Vata, Pitta, Kapha — qualities and tendencies
• Prakriti — your natural constitution
• Vikruti — your current state
• Ojas — resilience and vitality
• Ama — undigested material or toxins

These terms are simply part of the assessment process. They help us understand your unique patterns so recommendations can be personalized — not pulled from a generic checklist the way many health systems tend to do. Once the language is translated, the whole system becomes incredibly relatable.

🌏 Where Ayurveda fits
Ayurveda isn’t an “alternative” system — it’s part of a global lineage of traditional medical frameworks. Many of its principles parallel or influenced other early systems, and several concepts are now being explored through modern scientific research.

✨ When an Ayurvedic consultation can help
Ayurveda can offer support when you want to understand:

• Why certain symptoms or patterns keep repeating
• How digestion, sleep, stress, and energy are connected
• How your natural tendencies influence your health
• How daily and seasonal rhythms affect your well‑being
• How to build steadiness and resilience over time
• Support for common concerns such as: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, allergies, IBS or digestive discomfort, acid reflux, arthritis or joint pain, sleep difficulties, stress‑related symptoms

Ayurveda doesn’t replace medical care — it complements it by helping you understand the “why” behind your patterns while also supporting the symptoms you’re experiencing.

💬 A final note
I hope this brings a little more clarity to what Ayurveda is and why it’s such a meaningful part of my work. I’m always happy to connect and answer any questions — feel free to reach out by DM, text, or email, whatever feels easiest.

Warmly,
Julie

Here it is — my final Ayurveda certificate (…who am I kidding 🤣)

I’m celebrating a meaningful milestone today: my fourth and final Ayurveda certificate just arrived. It marks over 2,000 hours of immersive study, exploring the pathophysiology and root causes of symptoms and learning how to translate that knowledge into grounded, practical recommendations for clients.

For the past several years, I’ve been working closely with clients through Ayurvedic consultations, and alongside that work, I’ve continued to deepen my training in digestion, herbal medicine, and cleansing practices.

This isn’t about collecting certificates — it’s about being able to offer grounded, informed, compassionate care to the people who trust me with their wellness.

My mission has always been to make holistic medicine accessible, understandable, and empowering. Whether you’re just beginning your journey or seeking deeper, personalized support, my pathways are designed to meet you exactly where you are and honour your unique needs.

Thank you for being part of this work. I’m grateful to keep learning, growing, and walking alongside you.

I’m sitting outside in the warm sun, listening to the ice melt from the roof, and realizing that the first signs of early spring are here.

In Ayurveda, late winter and early spring are known as Kapha season — a time that carries qualities of coolness, heaviness, and dampness. You can feel it in the snow as it becomes dense and heavy. You might notice it in your body too: feeling a little sluggish, congested, or fighting off a cold with excess mucus. As the days warm, the body naturally begins to melt and release the extra insulation we built up over winter.

The growing warmth of the sun supports this thawing process, helping to thin and move fluids. But it can also leave us feeling tired or foggy, as the liver and lymphatic system work a little overtime during this seasonal shift.

Ayurveda teaches us to balance like with its opposite. So when the season feels cool, heavy, and damp, we support ourselves with warmth, lightness, and a little dryness.

A few simple ways to support your body during this transition:
• Shift from thick, heavy stews to warm, light soups with vegetables and cooked greens.
• Add pungent, warming spices like ginger, turmeric, cayenne, and chili to stimulate digestion and help clear excess mucus.
• Enjoy simple stir-fries, bean chilies or light chicken and vegetable soups that feel nourishing but not overly heavy.
• Practice dry brushing (garshana) to stimulate the lymphatic system and move stagnant energy — it’s wonderfully invigorating this time of year.

Keep things warm, light, and simple as we move through this transition into spring. Your body knows what to do — sometimes it just needs a little support. 🌿
