Message from Executive Director, Robin Williams Blake
Dear Toronto EFT community,
It gives me great pleasure to share with the EFT community that Caroline Jones is now a certified Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) therapist.
Exactly two years after attending EFIT Essentials in Toronto, and following dedicated individual and dyadic supervision, Caroline has reached this important milestone. Her determination and commitment to mastering both EFIT and EFCT truly stand out. Today we celebrate her EFIT certification.
On behalf of the Toronto Centre for EFT (TCEFT) and ICEEFT, it is an honour to recognize and celebrate her achievement. Our community is stronger with another skilled and attuned EFIT therapist in its midst.
ICEEFT Trainer, Ali Barbosa, who reviewed Caroline’s certification package, shared this about her work:
"This video demonstrates a wide range of EFIT competencies and beautifully illustrates how to attune to a survivor of complex trauma. Throughout the session, you walk with great sensitivity through the world of this client’s well-earned protections. You consistently honor her pace, carefully monitor the safety of the therapeutic alliance, and never move ahead of what her nervous system is ready for. I can clearly see how much care you hold for this client. You have been walking alongside her for several years, always committed to guiding her toward greater safety. I really appreciated the humanistic, attachment-based frame reflected in your case conceptualization. Where so many others have pathologized this client, you hold a solid humanistic perspective, believing in her many strengths and her capacity to continue growing in healthy relationships. I loved your constant validation throughout the session. Expressions such as, “You just nailed it,” and, “You’re doing great,” communicate much more than encouragement. You consistently become a surrogate attachment figure, compassionately mirroring your client’s strengths and helping shape a more positive sense of self. The challenges of this session are very evident. It is difficult to bring her closer to her emotional experience. She exits the emotion, laughs, or shifts into different memories. I thought you showed exceptional skill in meeting her exactly where she was without ever losing your therapeutic focus, constantly looking for gentle ways back into her experience. I loved how you held the emotional moment during the encounter. You maintained the rhythm of the emotion with your body, your voice, and your pacing, helping her stay with the experience. You help move your client one meaningful step closer to herself while gradually building the secure base from which she can continue taking risks and developing the capacity to trust others again. I wholeheartedly support your certification and wish you an exciting EFT journey ahead. Congratulations!" - Ali
Caroline, having been part of your journey, Caroline, I couldn't agree with Ali more. I have had the privilege of witnessing the genuine care you bring to your clients. You help them courageously touch what once felt 'frightening, alien, and unacceptable'. With you as their temporary attachment figure and trusted guide, they are never alone as they discover new ways of being with themselves and others. It is a beautiful reflection of the heart of EFIT.
Congratulations on this well-deserved achievement! It has been an honour to walk alongside you on your journey, and I look forward to watching the lives you will continue to touch with Sue's remarkable model.
Please send your messages of congratulations to Caroline directly at: [email protected]
Caroline is accepting new referrals!
Caroline Jones, MA, RP (CRPO #13008) is a Registered Psychotherapist based in Toronto, Ontario, who has spent more than 20 years supporting people in a variety of helping roles across community mental health, addiction services, housing, violence prevention, and private practice. Before becoming a psychotherapist, she worked alongside survivors of intimate partner violence and s*x trafficking, individuals living with addiction, and people navigating homelessness, mental illness, and other systemic barriers. These experiences continue to shape her compassionate, trauma-informed, and attachment-based approach to therapy.
Caroline is a Certified Emotionally Focused Individual Therapist (EFIT). She discovered Emotionally Focused Therapy during graduate school and immediately felt she had found her clinical home. The attachment-based framework resonated deeply with how she understood healing—that emotional suffering often emerges from ruptures in connection, and that safety, responsiveness, and emotional attunement create the conditions for lasting change.
Like many therapists drawn to attachment-based work, Caroline's passion for EFT is informed not only by more than two decades of professional experience but also by her own journey of healing from trauma and attachment injuries. She believes that healing happens in the context of safe, attuned relationships and considers it a privilege to walk alongside individuals and couples as they cultivate greater security, resilience, and connection.
