My name is Elizabeth. I am a gerontology trained social service worker & I have been working with the senior population for over ten years. It came to my attention that the needs of seniors are not being met. This troubling fact has fueled my desire to step in & make changes within our community. We are a small and compassionate team of recreation specialists. It is our belief that through the services we offer, independence and the highest quality of life can be achieved by our clients. At EVERMORE our mission, through the implementation of therapeutic, social & recreational activities, is to promote & maintain independence in the comfort of your own home. 💜 18+ months of connection, growth, and adapting together.

I’ve had the privilege of working with this wonderful client for almost 2 years, and our journey has reminded me time and time again that meaningful engagement isn’t about following a set plan. It’s about meeting someone where they are.

There have been challenges along the way. Things that worked one day didn’t always work the next. Abilities, interests, and needs evolved, and we had to evolve with them.

So, we adapt. We try new approaches, revisit familiar activities, follow their lead, and celebrate the little moments that make a big difference.

Because engagement isn’t about getting it right every time. It’s about staying curious, being flexible, building trust, and never losing sight of the person behind the care. 💜

This is what Evermore Specialty Care is all about.

One-to-one engagement, built around the person. 💛

Before every session, I take the time to consider what might spark curiosity, connection, confidence or simply a little joy.

Today’s challenge? A little memory matching with birds, insects and nature. 🐝🦋🐦

And sometimes, the best part isn’t whether they get every match right.
It’s the conversation, the concentration, the smiles and the moments of connection along the way.

Meaningful engagement begins with understanding who someone is, what mattered to them, and what feels familiar.

You don’t need expensive supplies or complicated activities — sometimes the most meaningful opportunities are already around you.

Today was one of those days that reminded me why community matters. ❤️

I had the opportunity to visit Dorothy Ley Hospice today and spend some time learning more about the incredible work they do to support individuals, families and caregivers in our community.

I was taken on a tour and learned more about their programs, resources and the educational and recreational opportunities they offer, including activities supporting people living with dementia.

What stood out to me was the sense of community, dignity and connection woven throughout the work they do.

At Evermore Specialty Care, we believe that meaningful engagement is about so much more than keeping someone busy. It is about creating opportunities for connection, participation, accomplishment and belonging.

It was wonderful to see how closely those values can complement the work being done at Dorothy Ley.

I’m also very pleased that Evermore Specialty Care will be included in Dorothy Ley’s upcoming community resource booklet, allowing us to connect with individuals, families and caregivers looking for meaningful resources and support.

Thank you to Sarah and the Dorothy Ley team for welcoming me and giving me the opportunity to learn more about the important work you do.

Who says meaningful engagement has to look a certain way? 💜

One of the things we love most about what we do at Evermore is that we get to be creative every single day.

We look at the person in front of us and ask:

✨ What interests them?
✨ What feels familiar?
✨ What can they still do independently?
✨ What might spark curiosity?
✨ And most importantly, what can give them a genuine sense of accomplishment?

Our engagement tools are intentionally adult-friendly, purposeful and adaptable.

Because an activity doesn’t need to be complicated to be meaningful.

It might be matching colours.
Identifying an insect.
Sorting objects.
Completing a puzzle.
Reminiscing.
Creating something.
Or simply experiencing the satisfaction of saying:

“I did it.”

That feeling matters. ❤️

At Evermore, we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all activities. We believe in meeting the person where they are, adapting the experience to their abilities and interests, and creating opportunities for connection, confidence and success.
