Meet Taryn Thompson, a previous CanPath practicum student who studied the association between air pollution and early onset type 2 diabetes💻🔎

We asked Taryn: What made CanPath valuable for the research you were supporting?

💬"Canpath has such a wealth of different variables that we have collected from participants that isn’t often available in administrative... This gave me the ability to explore my output and exposure while controlling for variables that you aren’t frequently always able to control for. Also, because of the size of the cohort, early onset type 2 diabetes is not very frequent so having a larger population allowed me to look at this more rare outcome"

⭐CanPath is honoured to work with such talented students who are leading the next generation of research. During our interview, Taryn shares more about her experiences, learnings and advice for fellow early-career researchers. Check out our full length interview up on our YouTube! 💻

➡️💻: https://canpath.ca/fr/etude-des-bienfaits-importants-des-environnements-nutritionnels-bien-fr/?utm_%E2%80%A6

How are Canadians staying hydrated this summer? ☀️💦HEAL participants are asked to share everything they eat and drink over a 24-hour period. So far, water is the top drink of choice for participants from the BC Generations Project and the Manitoba Tomorrow Project this summer! As the weather is warming up, it is super important to stay hydrated and cool. 🥤

🍎The HEAL (HEALthy Eating and Supportive Environments) Study is Canada's largest effort to study diet and physical activity. As the data is rolling in, from the wonderful participation of Canadians across the country, we want to highlight some fun facts about what Canadians are eating, drinking and how we are moving.

Today is Self Care Day! We hope that you find time today (and everyday) to relax, take a deep breath and take care of yourself. 🌸☀️
💬We asked our staff to show us: “what does self care mean to you?” Self care looks different for everyone, but no matter how busy life gets, it is important to remember your own well-being should come first.
🌻We hope you enjoy today and remember self care doesn't end after today, we need to make an ongoing effort to take care of ourselves, everyday!
