🆙 During two days, the fully booked course led by the faculty Prof. Dr. med Justus Gille, Paweł Bąkowski, MD PhD, Dr. Marco Sanchez Breton and Dr. Eduardo Caldelas covered both the theoretical aspects as well as hands-on training on the specimen of the established AMIC and AMMR techniques.

🚶‍♀️ The first metatarsophalangeal (MTP-1) joint plays a crucial role in gait and mobility.

🦶 Conditions such as hallux rigidus and hallux valgus can significantly affect patients’ quality of life, making the MTP-1 joint an important focus in foot and ankle care.

🔬 Although small, this joint deserves significant clinical attention and continued research.

🎓 This year’s Alumni Meeting 2026, held in Wolhusen/Lucerne on July 3–4, brought together surgeons from across Germany 🇩🇪 and Switzerland🇨🇭for two inspiring days of learning, exchange, and networking.

The program provided valuable insights, practical tips & tricks, interactive presentations, and highly interesting case discussions that sparked meaningful exchanges among participants.

👏 A special thank you to our outstanding faculty, Prof. Dr. med. Markus Walther, Prof. h.c. PD Dr. med. Matthias Steinwachs, and Dr. med. Eric Reiss, for sharing their expertise and making each session both engaging and insightful, contributing significantly to the success of this event.

Another successful Swiss Orthopaedics Congress is behind us!✨

In the 1990s Geistlich took a key strategy step refocusing on innovation and biomaterials. We sold our fertilizer business to Hauert. International suppliers were flooding the Swiss market with dumping prices, and traditional industrial products were coming under increasing pressure.

This moment was more than just a business transaction, as Philipp Hauert sums up aptly: “It was clear to us: Geistlich Fertilizers stands for tradition, quality, and trust. Continuing this legacy was not only an opportunity but an obligation to Swiss horticulture.”

The sale marks the end of an era and, at the same time, the beginning of a new one.

We produced “Konstruvit,” the glue found in seven out of ten Swiss households and for which Geistlich was well known. The unforgettable Gerda Conzetti, the “nation’s craft queen featured “Konstruvit” on her craft show and turned the white-and-red tube into a Swiss icon.

A new publication reports improved IKDC scores and marked gains in Tegner–Lysholm outcomes compared to preoperative status following ACL reconstruction with OrthoPure® XT – a porcine xenograft.

Three inspiring days at the ESSKA Congress have come to an end, leaving us with great memories, meaningful connections, and valuable scientific insights.

It was a pleasure to take part in both scientific and social initiatives—from the energizing charity run to our Lunch Symposium. During this session, we had the opportunity to hear inspiring clinical experiences with Chondro-Gide® and Orthopure® XT.

Prof. Dr. med. Justus Gille shared insights on the AMIC® technique, Assoc. Prof. Tomasz Piontek presented his experience with Arthroscopic Matrix-Based Meniscus Repair (AMMR®), and Prof. Stefano Zaffagnini discussed clinical outcomes using Orthopure® XT in ACL reconstruction.

A heartfelt thank you to ESSKA for the excellent organization, to our faculty and partners for their outstanding contributions, and to all participants who made these days so dynamic and impactful.

We return inspired, motivated, and already looking forward to the next opportunity to meet again.
