How do we get the next generation excited about packaging? Let them have a go.
We invited nine 17-year-olds to our Asia Pacific Innovation Center to learn from our R&D experts, experiment with materials, talk to consumers and tackle packaging challenges themselves.
Three weeks later, the students from South East Asia (UWCSEA) in Singapore, presented concepts of their own.
- TwinO: Pet food and gravy are kept in separate chambers to protect freshness and texture, then combined by pressing the pack when it’s time to serve.
- Crunchbound: A fibre-based confectionery concept the students developed through material testing and experimentation, including repulpability. Their design also explored a reusable latch to hold multiple packs together. It was recognized for technical knowledge and innovative design.
- Bento Buddy: An integrated bento-style food delivery concept designed to bring different food components into one format, with a focus on reducing waste and making packing and takeaway more convenient.
A great reminder of what can happen when we open our industry to new talent and give them the opportunity to surprise us.
