Patience might be one of the hardest virtues to practise in the world we live in.

Everything moves so fast. Everyone seems to be in a rush to overwork, overachieve, overearn, overconsume, overexcite… all while spending four hours scrolling through social media. 😅

I can be one of those people too. I try hard not to be, but every now and then I overindulge. And afterwards, it rarely feels like the healthiest choice. Usually, I should have just gone to sleep.

Does this sound familiar?

You make the decision to change a habit, you genuinely mean it… and then the following week, you find yourself doing exactly the same thing again.

Maybe that's where we need to give ourselves a little more credit.

Changing a habit isn't always easy, especially when that habit gives you something you desperately need in the moment; a distraction, comfort, excitement, or simply a few minutes of peace.

Change takes time.

So perhaps the goal isn't to become a completely different person overnight. Perhaps it's to give yourself enough patience to let the new behaviour brew.

If you're trying to build healthier habits and keep finding yourself stuck in the same patterns, DM me. Let's see what we can come up with together. 🤍

Don't get me wrong, scientists are trying very hard to explain it all. And as fast as scientific knowledge is moving forward around the world, there is still so much we don't fully understand about ourselves or the universe.

Have you heard of the placebo effect?

If not, look it up. If you have... well, you know exactly why I find it so fascinating.

Our minds are one thing. But if you allow yourself to consider it, perhaps there is something more to our experience than what we can currently measure or fully explain, call it the soul, consciousness, or a higher existence.

The placebo effect is a fascinating reminder that what we believe and expect directly influences how we experience aspects of our health and wellbeing. Does this mean we can simply think away every problem? What do you think?

How much more capable are we than we currently believe?

And what could change if we learned to use our thoughts, beliefs and expectations more consciously?

If you're curious about exploring how your mindset and beliefs shape the way you experience your life, DM me. Let's see what possibilities you have not discovered yet.

We need to stop disappointing ourselves by expecting grand things from other people.

The truth is, we can influence, encourage and support others, but we can only truly control our own choices.

The sooner we accept that, the less power disappointment has over us.

Think of a simple example: you want your partner to quit smoking. Maybe you've asked them. Maybe you've explained how much it matters to you. Perhaps they've even promised to try.

But ultimately, the decision isn't yours.

Real change rarely lasts when someone is doing it purely to satisfy another person. They have to want it for themselves too.

And when we build our happiness around the expectation that someone will eventually change, we risk building a future around a version of them that may never exist.

There are countless examples of this in relationships.

Are you seeing the person in front of you or the person you keep hoping they'll become?

If you're struggling to see the bigger picture in your relationships, understand recurring patterns, or explore why certain relationships don't feel as strong or fulfilling as you'd hoped, DM me. We can explore it together.

Nowadays, kindness is often mistaken for flirting, hidden intentions or wanting something in return.

Why?

Have we become less kind as a society? I honestly don't think so. But I do think social media, our phones and the way we increasingly interact through screens have changed how we approach one another. Perhaps we're simply less used to spontaneous, genuine human connection.

Last Friday, I walked into a hair salon to discuss the possibility of a collaboration. I didn't have an appointment. I simply felt the urge to walk in, introduce myself and see whether something positive could come from the conversation.

I couldn't have been more wrong.

The owner was unbelievably hostile. Not simply dismissive or uninterested, hostile.

Knowing what I know, I understand that what is happening in her life drives such behaviour.
I always want to help people in these situations, but not everyone wants help, and not everyone is ready to receive it.

And that's something I'm learning too: kindness doesn't mean forcing yourself into someone's world when they have made it clear they don't want you there.

So I wished her well and walked away.

If you've read this far, perhaps you're asking yourself how you see the world around you.

Do you find it difficult to trust kindness?
Are you constantly expecting hidden intentions?
Would you like to feel more confident, connected and at peace with yourself and your life?

If you feel ready to explore a different perspective, I would be very happy to connect. DM me, and let's talk.

Do you carry the weight of the world on your shoulders?

Do you constantly feel that you have something to prove to your parents, your family, society, or the people around you?

And perhaps the most important question: have you proved to yourself that you are living by your own standards?

Personally, I feel that I have failed my parents' expectations in many ways. Or perhaps I simply chose a life they never expected me to live.

Not that long ago and in many ways, even today, children were often seen as a reflection of their parents' success. If a child didn't fit the expected norm, society could be quick to assume that something was wrong or that someone had failed.

But what if you aren't broken?
What if you simply don't fit someone else's definition of success?
Are you still struggling to define your worth? Are you chasing a version of success that doesn't actually belong to you?

Maybe it's time to ask yourself what success looks like when nobody else gets to define it.

If you're struggling with these questions, DM me. We can face those struggles together and explore what your version of a successful life could look like.

There are friendships that come and go, and that's okay. Not every person is meant to stay in our lives forever.

But if you're lucky enough to have even one friend who understands you better than most, who you know will stand by you and for you, through the good, the bad and everything in between, then you know how special that kind of friendship really is.

Life feels different when you have someone you can truly be yourself with. Someone who knows your flaws, your stories, your moods and your madness and somehow still chooses to stay. 😅❤️

This post is simply a thank you to those amazing handful of people who have stood by my side over the years and, at times, seem to know me better than I know myself.

You know who you are. Thank you. 🫶

And if you're reading this and thinking that you don't have that one person you can turn to, someone you feel safe enough to open up to, please remember: you don't always have to carry everything alone.

If you feel like talking, DM me. We can explore together more than you might imagine. 🤍

I personally feel that love comes in many different forms. Do you feel that too? Comment and let me know. ❤️

Even with my two children, I love them both fiercely, yet the love I feel for each of them isn't exactly the same. It's difficult to explain, because I love my partner immensely too, but in a completely different way. And the love I have felt for other people who have been part of my life has also been different.

I love both my parents deeply, but again, not in the same way.

Maybe that's the beauty and complexity of love: it doesn't always fit into one simple definition.

If you're struggling with feelings for more than one person and guilt is making you believe you're a bad person because of it, DM me. We can explore what you're feeling and how you want to live with those feelings.

And if you'd like a book that explores love, choice and relationships in an unconventional way, I always recommend "Brida" by Paulo Coelho

Do you see war, cruelty, poverty and murder everywhere?

First of all, maybe turn off the news for a while.

Mainstream media rarely has enough good news to report with the same urgency as bad news. And the truth is, our brains were never developed to absorb a constant stream of negative information from every corner of the world. Places we may never have even known existed just 200 years ago.

I'm not saying we should ignore reality or pretend that terrible things don't happen. They do.

But the world is also full of kindness, generosity, beauty and people doing extraordinary things for one another. The problem is that these stories don't always get the same attention.

Personally, I prefer following accounts like Sam | Sustainable Living, which remind me that there is another side to humanity too. 🌍

Be mindful of the voices, platforms and information you allow to shape your perception of the world. The more you are exposed to one version of reality, the easier it becomes to believe that this is the only reality.

The world offers many perspectives. It is our eyes that decide whether to see it.

If you feel that your view of the world has become overwhelmingly negative and you'd like to explore how your own thought patterns and influences shape your perspective, DM me. Maybe we can work together to help you see the world, and your place in it, from a different angle.

Don't aim for happiness every single day. Aim, instead, for contentment.

Somewhere along the way, I think we've started idolising happiness almost as much as we've romanticised love. As if we're supposed to wake up every morning excited, grateful, glowing and ready to conquer the world.

Let's be honest, a morning smile in the mirror while brushing your teeth can feel like a lot, even for the most enthusiastic morning person. 😅

But here's the thing: even forcing a smile can occasionally shift something. And if nothing else, you might find yourself laughing at how ridiculous the effort feels.

That small moment of effort, that little decision to try, can create a more positive start to your day.

Not every day needs to be amazing.

You don't need to chase happiness as if it's something you're failing to achieve when you don't feel it.

Maybe a good life isn't about feeling happy all the time.

Maybe it's about feeling content enough to appreciate the good moments when they come and strong enough to get through the not-so-good ones.

And if putting that smile on feels harder than it should, DM me. Let's work together on finding what works for you. 😊

It's funny how life works. You take the first step, and somehow the universe seems to take two for you.

When you have a clear idea of what you want to achieve, your own personal Ithaca, something starts to change.

You stop obsessing so much about when you're going to get there, and you begin to appreciate the road that is taking you there.

A very lovely woman reminded me of that today.

Life wouldn't be nearly as meaningful if we were incapable of appreciating the good. And perhaps one of the ways we learn to truly appreciate it is by experiencing the opposite.

The difficult moments.
The disappointments.
The struggles.

They shape us. They teach us. They give us strength, perspective and lessons we could never have learned from an easy life.

And ultimately, they become part of the journey.

If you've read the beautiful Greek poem “Ithaca” by C. P. Cavafy, you'll know exactly what I mean. The destination matters, but so much of what makes the journey worthwhile is everything we become along the way.

I also believe that losing hope is one of the things that can keep us stuck.

And yet, there are moments when we have to accept something even harder:

A chapter has simply run its course.
Not because we failed.
Not because we weren't good enough.
But because we have gathered what we were meant to gather from it.

Letting go of the past isn't easy. Especially when we've invested so much of ourselves in it.

But perhaps your next step doesn't require you to forget where you've been.
Perhaps it simply requires you to stop living there.

If you're struggling to let go, searching for answers, or trying to find your way forward, DM me. Let's explore what your personal Ithaca might be. 🌿
