Innovative solutions x established workflow

➡️ Most TMJ prostheses are based on the ball-and-socket principle. This prevents the complex movement of the lower jaw from being fully reproduced.

We have modified the design of our IPS Implants® TMJ Prosthesis to incorporate the fundamental anatomic characteristics of the native condyle. This design aims to help patients achieve a more natural movement post-operatively. The movements include opening and closing the mouth, lateral movements, advancement, and retraction of the lower jaw. ✔️

New opportunities – entering the vessel sealing segment

Back in 2005, we revolutionized surgical workflows by introducing marSeal – the first reusable vessel sealing instrument with integrated cutting function.

This breakthrough technology enables new, patient-friendly surgical methods:
✅ Vessels can be cut and sealed in a single step
✅ No need for ligation
✅ Faster, safer, and more efficient procedures

From this milestone to today’s advanced energy devices, we continue to push boundaries for better surgical care. 💡

🚀 On Friday, May 22, 2026, our first KLS Martin Thoracic Cadaver Course in collaboration with the CWIS took place at the Amsterdam Skills Centre.

Together with thoracic surgeons and surgical teams from different centers, we spent an intensive day focused on all aspects of chest wall injury repair – combining lectures, case discussions, scientific exchange and hands-on cadaver lab training.

The course created a highly interactive environment to discuss current approaches in chest wall stabilization and thoracic trauma care, while also enabling valuable peer-to-peer exchange and practical application in the lab.

🔬 During the course, we were also excited to introduce and demonstrate both of our latest solutions:

• The L1® Rib titanium system including the new Y-plates
• The L1 Rib PEEK system
• Our L1 Sternal fixation portfolio

It was great to see the strong interest and engage in many insightful discussions around modern chest wall reconstruction and rib fixation technologies.

🤝 A special thank you to our outstanding faculty and to the CWIS for their support, expertise, and contribution in making this course such a valuable experience.

Our Faculty:
Zachary Bauman, USA
Thomas White, USA
John Edwards, UK
Dávid Sütöri, Hungary
Pieter Jan Van Huijstee, The Netherlands
Mathieu Wijffels, The Netherlands
Fabrizio Sammartano, Italy

Thank you as well to everyone who joined us in Amsterdam and contributed to the open, collaborative, and scientific atmosphere throughout the day!
