September is Su***de Prevention Month, which gives us another opportunity to talk about why this conversation matters.

Throughout our 90th anniversary year, we have been proud to support EPiC Hope CIC and the work they do here in Wigan to prevent su***de and support people who are struggling.

Talking about su***de can feel difficult. Staying silent can make it even harder.

So throughout September, check in on the people around you. Ask twice. Make time for the conversation. And if somebody tells you they are struggling, listen.

On Tuesday 8th September from 10am, the EPiC Hope Harbour Van will be parked outside Vartyโ€™s on Manchester Road, Ince.

The Harbour Van provides a safe, welcoming place to talk, access support and find out more about the help available through EPiC Hope. If you need somebody to talk to, or you are worried about someone else, please come along.

You can be the reason someone chooses to stay.

If you or somebody you know needs urgent emotional support, Samaritans can be contacted free, 24 hours a day, on 116 123.

A HUGE THANK YOU TO OUR WONDERFUL SPONSORS ๐Ÿ’œ

Weโ€™re over the moon to have the support of three incredibly caring organisations ~ GHE Electrical, Fire & Security Ltd, Leigh-based Launch North West, and Magicalogical Ltd.

Your generosity is helping us make this important and much-loved day possible. We are so grateful to every one of you!

TAKE ON THE CHALLENGE IN MEMORY OF SOMEONE YOU LOVE ๐Ÿ’›

Weโ€™re really looking forward to welcoming everyone to the 4th Annual Wigan & Leigh Walk for Hope on Saturday 19th September 2026.

This year, during Su***de Prevention Month, weโ€™re taking on the challenge of walking Yr Wyddfa, also known as Snowdon.

The Wigan & Leigh Walk for Hope gives us all a special way to remember everyone who has lost their life to su***de, while standing beside the families and friends who loved them and continue to carry their memory.

Carry their name. Carry their story. Carry the love they left behind ๐Ÿ’œ

Together, weโ€™ll take on the mountain as families, friends and one community, supporting each other with every step. Weโ€™ll also share a special moment of remembrance for every precious life being honoured.

Their life mattered. Their memory climbs with us.

๐Ÿฅพ WALK INFORMATION

๐Ÿ“… Saturday 19th September 2026
๐Ÿ“ Meet at The Royal Victoria Hotel, Llanberis, LL55 4TY (carpark)
๐Ÿ•— Meeting time ~ 8:00am
โ›ฐ๏ธ Walk begins ~ 8:30am promptly
๐Ÿฅพ Route ~ The Llanberis Path
โš ๏ธ Official route grading ~ Hard
๐Ÿ•’ Please allow approximately seven hours, including breaks and our remembrance moment.

The Llanberis Path is the most gradual route to the summit, but it is still a challenging mountain walk. A suitable level of fitness, sturdy walking footwear and weather-appropriate clothing are essential.

๐Ÿ’ง Bottled water and goodies will be provided.

Everyone taking part will receive one of our special Bags of Hope, filled with items based on our Bagโ€™s theme this year, Your Emotional Wellbeing Tool Kit.

Tops for the walk will also be provided. If youโ€™re able to make a small donation towards your top, it would be very much appreciated.

If you would like to take on this challenge in memory of someone you love, or need help getting there, please call 07483 186351 or email [email protected]

Please share this post far and wide so families, friends and anyone affected by su***de knows they are welcome to walk with us.

Carry their memory to the summit. Carry hope home ๐Ÿ’œ๐ŸŽ—๏ธ

Is the heat making everything feel more difficult? โ˜€๏ธ

Extreme heat can disturb sleep, increase agitation and exhaustion, and make suicidal thoughts feel more intense.

A few things that may help today ~

๐Ÿ’ง Sip water regularly.
๐ŸงŠ Cool your skin with a damp cloth or cool shower.
๐ŸชŸ Close curtains and spend time in the coolest room available.
๐Ÿบ Avoid alcohol, which can worsen dehydration and lower your ability to cope.
๐Ÿ’œ Reduce demands on yourself. Getting through today is enough.
๐Ÿ“ฑ Tell somebody how you feel and stay near another person if you feel unsafe.
๐Ÿ’Š Keep taking prescribed medication, but ask a pharmacist if youโ€™re concerned about how it interacts with heat.

These feelings can pass. You matter, and you donโ€™t have to face today alone ๐Ÿ’œ
