Meet our advisory board✨!

We recently came together for our Advisory Board meeting, made up of staff and people we support and one message came through loud and clear: listening to and valuing people’s voices makes a real difference.

💬 Key themes from the discussion included:
Putting people first – continuing to build more person-centred support where choice, independence and individuality are at the heart of everything we do.
Being heard – ensuring people we support have meaningful ways to share feedback and influence decisions.
Looking ahead – shaping the future of Positive Futures, including characteristics that are important in finding our new Chief Executive and maintaining the values that matter most. The board decided that our next leader needs to be nice, kind and polite, a good listener, honest and approachable but firm and assertive when it matters 💛.
Learning & growth – improving access to training, advocacy and opportunities for development.

👏 A huge thank you to all members for sharing their experiences, ideas and ambitions so openly. Your voices are helping to shape a stronger, more inclusive future.

30 trees for 30 years transforming lives🌱

Positive Futures and National Trust NI are partnering over the next year to mark 30 years of transforming lives and collaborate on their "Roots to Recovery" and "Living with Water" project with Department for Infrastructure aiming to slow the flow of water into Belfast, by planting 30 trees in several locations across Northern Ireland.

Yesterday we set off to the beautiful Lisnabreeny and Cregagh Glen. With stunning views over Belfast, and a few sore arms by the end, staff, people we support, and our partners Outform Consulting rolled up their sleeves to get stuck in. Safe to say… planting trees is definitely harder than it looks😅.

A huge thank you to National Trust NI for hosting us and helping make the morning so special, and to everyone who joined in, from first dig to final pat-down.

And of course, no Positive Futures outing would be complete without a bit of energy from our Chief Executive Dr Agnes Lunny OBE, who kept spirits high with a few songs along the way 🎶.

Here’s to growing something lasting, rooted in collaboration and surrounded by community.

How do we transform adult social care to ensure the focus moves away from reactive to proactive intervention?

Our Chief Executive Dr Agnes Lunny OBE joined Colin McMullan (Belfast Health & Social Care Trust) when they were interviewed for a DoH publication, sharing their work as Joint Chairs of the Prevention and Early Intervention Implementation Group (PEIG). They discussed the interesting work done on preventative home visits and work progressing for people who are over 65 - advising that the development of new early intervention approaches to support adults under the age of 65 will be discussed and agreed by the group later in the year.

There is a growing focus on how early intervention can better support people under 65 and those with additional needs, ensuring no one is left behind as we build a more inclusive, person-centred approach to care.

This transformation depends on strong partnerships, cross-sector collaboration, and making the most of community strengths, because sustainable change can only happen when we work together.
