💚 Celebrating Kangaroo Care Day on our Neonatal Unit 💚
On Friday we were proud to celebrate International Kangaroo Care Day – a special day dedicated to the power of skin-to-skin contact between babies and their families.
Kangaroo Care (skin-to-skin cuddles) may look simple, but it has an incredible impact. It helps regulate babies’ heart rate, breathing and temperature, supports growth and development, and most importantly strengthens that vital bond between parent and baby.

We celebrated all of our amazing families who provide this care every day, and our dedicated team who support and encourage these special moments 💛

💛 Teddy Bears’ Picnic – Information for Parents 💛
We’ve had a few questions about our Teddy Bears’ Picnic and wanted to clarify how the invitations worked.
The event was promoted via a post on this page and with posters displayed around the ward. It was not sent as an individual invitation to families, and individual confirmation messages were not sent to parents who RSVP’d.
If you completed the Microsoft Forms RSVP linked in the post, your place at the picnic is confirmed – there’s nothing further you need to do.
We really appreciate how keen families are to join us, and we’re very much looking forward to welcoming you and your little ones for what we hope will be a lovely, relaxed morning together.
We hope to repeat the event to welcome all those who couldn’t make it on this occasion.

✨We have had an amazing response to the Teddy Bear's Picnic and are so looking forward to seeing families that have rsvp'ed next Wednesday. We are now at capacity numbers wise so sadly can not accept anymore attendees, but will hope to run the event again soon. ✨

RUH Neonatal Unit and the Maternity, Neonatal Voices Partnership (MNVP) and RUHX Charity warmly invite all parents who have had a baby at RUH Neonatal Unit to the Teddy’s Bear’s picnic on Wednesday 29th April.

This invite is also extended to those parents who received Transitional Care whilst on Mary Ward. This co-hosted event will take place at the Weston Hub on Penn Hill Road (just behind the RUH) and will be an opportunity for parents to see the staff who cared for them and their babies. Goody bags have been generously donated by charity RUHX for those who attend. We are looking forward to seeing you again, hearing how things have been for both you and your babies and also any feedback that you would like to share with us.
