This is Margaret, one of the lovely ladies who was supported by Re-engage and she also happens to be our colleague Hollie’s Granny.

Every month, Margaret attended the tea parties that Re-engage organised for older people in our communities. She would enjoy tea, cake, activities and a good chat with all the other older people who attended.

One of the things that made it so special was that she would be picked up from her home and dropped back off by one of the amazing Re-engage volunteers. Her family would also receive text updates to let them know when she had been picked up and when she had arrived home safely.

Margaret looked forward to these tea parties every month. They gave her the chance to get out, socialise with people her own age and enjoy an afternoon of tea, cakes and company, all provided by the charity.

This is just one of the many reasons we are walking 21 MILES tomorrow to raise money for Re-engage and the amazing work they do to help older people feel less lonely.

This charity is particularly close to us as our lovely colleague Margaret from our Bathgate Branch, or “Wee Mags”, is one of their amazing volunteers!

It’s also very close to our colleague Hollie from our Blackburn brach, whose gran was one of the older people supported by Re-engage. She attended their monthly tea parties, absolutely loved them and always looked forward to going.

Just a reminder what we’ve signed up for… 21 MILES!!!
That’s roughly like walking from Blackburn all the way into Edinburgh city centre!
