💊 Important Advice for Patients Taking Finasteride
If you’ve been prescribed finasteride (or dutasteride), please take a moment to read this important information:
• Finasteride has been linked to low mood, depression, suicidal thoughts, and s*xual side effects (such as reduced s*x drive, erectile difficulties, or ej*******on problems).
• Before starting treatment, make sure to read and keep the patient information leaflet and card provided with your medication.
• Let your doctor know if you have a history of depression or suicidal thoughts before taking finasteride.
🚨 When to seek urgent help:
If you have seriously harmed yourself or feel at risk of doing so, please call 999 immediately.
⚠️ When to stop and seek advice:
• If you are taking finasteride 1mg and develop depression or suicidal thoughts, stop taking it straight away and contact your doctor as soon as possible.
• If you are taking finasteride 5mg or dutasteride and experience these symptoms, contact your doctor urgently.
• If you notice changes in your s*x drive or s*xual function, speak to your doctor for advice and support.
