Really excited to share that Ravenstone Wellness is now officially Women’s Health Club Approved.

For me, this is about much more than having a badge. It’s independent recognition of the standards of care, professionalism and ethics that sit behind everything we do at Ravenstone.

Our radiographer-led bone health clinic remains in Bolton, but with Ravenstone now also based in Cheshire, we’re beginning to expand our bone health services across Cheshire and the wider North West.

And the timing couldn’t be better.

There are lots of things happening behind the scenes at the moment, with new collaborations, events, talks and opportunities to get people thinking about their bone health before a diagnosis or fracture forces them to.

I’m really looking forward to being part of the Women’s Health Club and to what comes next.

Stronger Starts Now…. (Actually 15th Sept!)

What if 10 days of small, simple changes could help you start building better habits for your bones and your future health?

On 15th September, we’re starting a FREE 10 day WhatsApp Bone Health Challenge.

And don’t be put off by the word “challenge”. This isn’t about turning your life upside down or giving you another long list of things you should be doing.

Over the 10 days, we’ll guide you through simple daily actions and information around bone health, including nutrition, movement, strength, rest, recovery and the everyday habits that can make a difference over time.

The challenge is supported by a month’s supply of targeted nutritional supplements, which are provided at cost price for participants. These can be collected from the clinic in Horwich or posted to you.

The WhatsApp challenge itself is completely free, and we’ve deliberately made it easy to follow. You won’t need to constantly chat or post in the group. We’ll provide the guidance, prompts and simple check ins each day.

The idea is to use those 10 days to get you started, then you have the rest of the month to continue building those habits yourself.

Everyone thinks osteoporosis is something you worry about when you’re older.

I think we’re starting the conversation too late.

Our bones don’t suddenly become important when we reach 70.

Bone health is influenced by what happens much earlier in life, and the changes around menopause can be particularly significant for women.

Yet we often don’t think about our bones until we’re told we have osteopenia or osteoporosis, or worse, until we fracture.

I want to change that.

What if we started looking at bone health in our 40s and 50s, while there’s still so much we can influence?

Strength. Nutrition. Protein. Vitamin D. Hormonal health. Lifestyle. Understanding our individual risk.

Because bone is living tissue. It is constantly adapting and renewing, and what we do now matters.

Bone health shouldn’t begin with a diagnosis.

It should begin with prevention.

Stronger for longer starts earlier than we think.

You feel well, you’re active, and osteoporosis isn’t even on your radar.

You exercise.
You eat reasonably well.
You’ve never broken a bone.
And you certainly don’t think of yourself as someone who needs to worry about osteoporosis.

So why would you think about having your bone health assessed?

The problem is, bone loss doesn’t always give us a warning.

You can feel fit, healthy and strong while changes are happening quietly in the background.

That’s why I want bone health to become something we think about before there’s a fracture or a diagnosis, particularly as we move through midlife and menopause.

Because prevention starts with knowing where you are.

You don’t need to feel unwell to have a reason to look.

If you feel well, you’re active and nothing hurts, bone health probably isn’t something you think about.And that’s exact...

If you feel well, you’re active and nothing hurts, bone health probably isn’t something you think about.

And that’s exactly the point.

Bone loss can happen quietly. You don’t necessarily feel it happening, and for many people the first time they realise there may be a problem is after a fracture or when osteoporosis or osteopenia is picked up unexpectedly.

I want us to start that conversation earlier.

At Ravenstone, bone health assessment isn’t just about looking for osteoporosis. It’s about understanding where you are now, looking at the wider picture and, importantly, what you can do to protect your bones for the years ahead.

I saw something yesterday that said, “Train for the 80-year-old version of you. She’s going to need you.”

And I keep thinking about it.

Because when we think about strength training, particularly as women, we still tend to think about what it does for us now. Being stronger, looking better, feeling fitter.

But perhaps we should think of it more like a pension.

Every time you lift something heavy, challenge your muscles or put healthy load through your bones, you’re making a small investment in a body you’re going to need decades from now.

We reach our peak bone mass relatively young, and after that we’re essentially working with what we’ve built and trying to protect it. For women, menopause can accelerate that loss considerably.

The difficult thing is that you don’t feel your bones getting weaker. There’s no warning light on the dashboard. Often, people only discover there’s a problem when something happens.

So when I think about training now, I’m starting to think less about the body I want next summer and much more about the one I want at 80.

One that still gets me where I want to go, carries what I want to carry and lets me live independently.

That feels like something worth investing in.
