Sharing this message from Brafferton and Helperby Parish Council:
Residents will know that Helperby surgery is closed during September. This closure may cause some people difficulties. The Parish Council wants to coordinate volunteer support to help people who cannot easily get to Boroughbridge.

Tony Whiting, our Parish Clerk, has volunteered to be the first point of contact for people, who having first tried friends and family, need a lift to a Church Lane appointment or to collect a prescription and to coordinate a team of volunteers from the village to provide support for September.

If you are prepared to be a volunteer to support people to attend their medical appointments or to collect medication from Boroughbridge or you are someone who is having difficulty with getting the support you need during this closure, please contact Tony: [email protected]. or 01423 20904

Advance notice:
HELPERBY BRANCH SURGERY – We regret to inform patients that the Helperby Branch Surgery will be temporarily closed throughout September 2026 due to unforeseen circumstances.

During this period, patients can continue to access services and appointments at our Boroughbridge site. Patients with existing appointments will be contacted where necessary, and our team will be available to assist with any queries or concerns.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this temporary closure may cause and thank you for your patience and understanding.

Please note: the surgery and dispensary will be closed tomorrow afternoon 4th August 2026 from 12.30 pm.
Triage submissions can still be made online during this time and will be reviewed and actioned as usual.

Important Notice
w/c 7th July 2026 Helperby surgery will be closed for clinics during this week due to essential refurbishments. New flooring is being fitted, and access to the building will be restricted for patient safety.

The surgery will remain open for medication collections only 10.30am to 12.30pm. Please use the intercom on the outside wall to alert staff. Prescriptions will be handed out via the medication hatch to ensure everyone’s safety.

We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience while we make these improvements.
