As comes to a close for another year, we would like to recognise and thank all of our fantastic volunteers across Community Reds and our outreach initiatives
From the coaches who run and support our Walking Football programme and player pathway, ensuring nobody is left sitting on the bench, to our matchday volunteers who turn up in all weathers to help create a welcoming and memorable experience for supporters at the Renewable Centre Stadium.

A special thank you also goes to our Community Reds volunteers who deliver our outreach sessions, helping to break down barriers and enable positive change within our communities.

Your skills, knowledge, time, and passion to make a difference are invaluable. Without your dedication, we simply would not be able to achieve all that we do.

Finally, we would like to wish the very best of luck to our Rainbow Reds and Community Reds men's and women's Walking Football teams competing in the Coalfield Cup tomorrow.

Good luck also to Community Reds Officer Martin Ransom, who is currently away on international duty in Northern Ireland with the Cymru Dragons.

Good luck to everyone involved, and thank you once again to all of our volunteers for everything you do.

Let's start today's post by wishing all the volunteer coaches and players of Briton Ferry Llansawel Community Reds Walking Football Team the very best of luck in the Coalfield Cup this weekend, with both the men's and women's teams in action.

Talking of walking football, you may already be aware that the Community Reds and Briton Ferry Llansawel AFC will be hosting the World Masters Walking Football Cup this August at the Renewable Centre Stadium. This weekend will also see our very own Martin Ransom representing the Cymru Dragons. The Cymru Dragons are just one of a growing number of organisations that could become Community Partner Organisations.

In partnership with the Dragons, the Community Reds will be establishing a player pathway for walking footballers through new regional leagues, international tournaments and representative matches. This exciting partnership will create more opportunities and help drive the continued growth of walking football across Wales for both men and women.

If you would like to find out more about the Community Reds and our various initiatives, or if your organisation may be interested in becoming a Community Partner, please get in touch.

Yesterday was another successful day at the Renewable Centre Stadium as we put the finishing touches to our new Outreach Programme. Everything is now taking shape ahead of the new season and the exciting opportunities that lie ahead, particularly as we continue our journey towards achieving charitable status

Have a Great Day

As we continue to celebrate Volunteers' Week, I thought today's post would be a great opportunity to highlight and share more information about the volunteering opportunities available with Community Reds and Briton Ferry Llansawel AFC.

As we look ahead to the exciting developments planned for Community Reds as an independent CIO, alongside the continued growth of our matchday activities programme at Briton Ferry Llansawel AFC men's and women's games at the Renewable Centre Stadium, we will soon be recruiting new volunteers to join our team.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to support the delivery of both our matchday programme and our expanding community outreach activities. No previous experience is required – just a passion for making a positive difference. We all have skills, knowledge, and experiences that can be shared to help create a more inclusive and supportive community.

As part of the Community Reds team, volunteers will have access to a range of training opportunities, the chance to gain transferable employment skills and qualifications, build confidence, and improve their physical and mental health and wellbeing.

You will be joining a growing and dedicated team of volunteers who are committed to making a real impact. If you have a skill, a passion, or simply want to meet new people and give something back to your community, we would love to hear from you.

To find out more and receive an invitation to our upcoming information event, please email [email protected] today.

We look forward to welcoming you onboard to the Community Reds team!

National Volunteering Week – Celebrating Our Community Reds Volunteers

This week marks National Volunteering Week, running from 1st June to 7th June. It is a time to recognise, celebrate, and share the fantastic contribution that all our volunteers make here at the Community Reds.
Without their continued dedication, skills, knowledge, and time, we simply would not be able to deliver the range of activities and support that make such a difference across our communities.

From Martin, Kelly, Kyle, Ange, and Alex, who coach and help run our highly successful BFL Community Reds Walking Football Initiative, to Joe, Paul, Gavin, and Ianto for their invaluable support on matchdays and with our Community Reds Outreach Programme – every one of them plays a vital role in what we do.

Through their commitment, we continue to deliver our Community Reds Outreach Programme, enabling and empowering change and ensuring no-one is left sitting on the bench.

I feel incredibly humbled and proud to be part of Briton Ferry Llansawel Community Reds, and to witness first-hand the positive impact our volunteers are making in the lives of individuals throughout the local and wider community.
Of course, none of this would be possible without the support of our fantastic Community Reds partner organisations, whose collaboration helps us extend our reach and impact.

Just yesterday and today, our volunteers have been out in the community delivering another outreach session in partnership with Age Connects, with participants enjoying an adapted game of Chair Cricket.

As many of you may be aware, Briton Ferry Llansawel Community Reds is entirely volunteer-led. In the last month alone, our team delivered more than 400 hours of community outreach activity, working alongside our community partners and supporting over 600 individuals through a wide range of programmes and activities.

To every volunteer who gives their time, energy, and passion to support others – thank you. Your contribution is making a real and lasting difference.

If you would like to find out more about BFL Community Reds or are interested in getting involved, please visit our brand-new website or email [email protected]. We would love to hear from you.

Have a great day, and thank you for supporting National Volunteering Week.

I hope you are all enjoying the weather and remembering to Slip, Slap, Slop — slip on a shirt, slap on the sun cream, and slop on a hat — while also making sure you keep taking on plenty of fluids.

Yesterday was something completely different for us, as we spent the day working on plans for the World Masters Walking Football Tournament, taking place at The Renewable Centre Stadium in Briton Ferry from August 13th to 16th.
Both Men’s and Women’s teams from around the globe will be joining us for this prestigious event.

As BFL Community Reds, we are really proud to be working on and staging this event, and we are grateful for the support of Briton Ferry Llansawel AFC in helping make it happen. Briton Ferry Llansawel AFC will shortly be announcing the countries taking part in this fantastic festival of football.

Away from the planning for the event, behind the scenes we have also been putting the finishing touches to our Volunteering Training Programme, ready for the launch of our “Games Maker” programme. We are really excited about this new initiative and the opportunities it will provide for everyone involved.

Finally, good luck to all the Cymru Dragons Walking Footballers who will be attending their monthly training session on Sunday. I look forward to meeting you all as we begin the build-up to the forthcoming international tournaments and the World Masters Walking Football Cup in August.

If you are interested in finding out more about the walking football opportunities at Briton Ferry Llansawel and our player pathway, please contact Martin Ranson via email at [email protected].

Whatever you are doing this weekend — enjoy!

One of the many highlights of Volunteering as part being of The Community Reds is working with our various community partners and delivering our outreach sessions.

Tuesday , we were in Cimla with Lyn and the members of the Me, Myself and I Friendship Group. It was a fantastic session filled with fun, warmth, and plenty of laughter. Guests took part in a musical warm-up before enjoying Boccia Noughts and Crosses, followed by a game of Boccia, a quiz, and bingo.

As always, the session was full of great conversations, smiles, and shared experiences. It is a privilege to be involved with such a wonderful group and organisation, just as it is with all of our Community Reds partners.

If you are a member of a community group or organisation and would like to find out more about how our Create, Enable, Empower, Change programme can support your community—ensuring nobody is left sitting on the bench—please get in touch.

For more information, email: [email protected]

Thank you to everyone who commented on and shared our previous post. Your support is greatly appreciated and helps us continue spreading our inclusion mission.
We never know what someone may be going through, and these sessions working with our Community partners open up conversations and practical support Which is why inclusion is at the heart of everything we do.

By working in partnership and creating safe, welcoming, and supportive environments that break down the barriers associated with poor mental health and wellbeing, we can provide that important first step or stepping stone towards positive change.

Away from from our Community Reds Outreach Programme we continue to develop and look at ways we can build our links and involvement across Briton Ferry Llansawel AFC. We are currently working on a number of initiatives to strengthen these and promote the opportunities available through Briton Ferry Llansawel AFC.

Work has already started down at Renewable Centre Stadium ready for next season. Working with the club and it's board. Working Together we hope to implement a number of initiatives, that will grow the supporters base and attendances at all home games, for both the Men's and women's teams. Congratulations to everyone at Briton Ferry Llansawel AFC Under 17s Girls on winning the League Cup yesterday, and also to our BFL Community Reds Women’s Walking Football team, who clinched the Welsh Women’s Walking Football title yesterday.

This is a fantastic achievement by everyone connected with our Walking Football Initiative and shows what can be achieved when everybody works and pulls together as one team.

It’s the start of another busy week for the team, with the usual mixture of meetings and being out and about delivering our Community Reds outreach sessions.
This weekend we will be at FerryFest with volunteers from the Community Reds team, who are all really looking forward to the event. If you’re going along, please pop by the Community Reds gazebo and say “hello”.

With the regular season now done and dusted, our focus now turns towards planning for next season. We have a number of exciting initiatives and plans awaiting sign-off by the club for our matchday programme. These include supporter groups and forums, matchday activities, and schemes designed to increase attendances at The Renewable Centre Stadium for all matches.

We still await the decision from the Charity Commission regarding the formation of The Community Reds as a CIO. We now have Trustees in place to oversee the new organisation and are just awaiting clarification and our charity number.

This is the next step for the Community Reds and would see us develop a number of exciting initiatives as the charity partner of Briton Ferry Llansawel AFC.
This is really important for the growth and sustainability of BFL Community Reds and for the continued development of our Create, Enable, Empower, Change programme.
Whatever you’re doing today, enjoy it. And remember, whatever you’re facing, the storm clouds don’t last forever — and here at The Community Reds we are always here to listen and support

One Team. One Club. One Community. All proud to be a part of Briton Ferry Llansawel ❤️❤️

Today is Day Two of Mental Health Awareness Week 2026, which runs from 11–17 May. This year’s theme is “Action.”

Here at Community Reds, as part of this year’s focus, we wanted to help raise awareness of the practical steps we can all take to improve mental wellbeing — both for ourselves and for others — through the work we deliver alongside our valued Community Partners.

Through our weekly outreach programmes, working in partnership with a wide range of community organisations, we not only help raise awareness of the issues surrounding mental health, but also deliver community-based activities that tackle some of the key challenges people face.

Our Community Reds Outreach Programmes are designed to remove barriers and provide support through positive, inclusive opportunities that promote the importance of good mental health and wellbeing.

Through our own evidence and the feedback received from Community Partners, we know our outreach sessions have a positive impact on mental wellbeing. Taking part in small, evidence-based actions — such as staying active, improving sleep, connecting with others, and getting involved in community activities — can help boost mood and improve overall wellbeing.

We are currently exploring opportunities to deliver a range of nature-based wellbeing sessions alongside our Community Partners. These will include Wellbeing Walks, Gardening for Wildlife, and other outdoor outreach activities focused on connection, wellbeing, and inclusion.

This Thursday is Wear It Green Day, and you can get involved by helping raise funds and awareness for the .

Here at Community Reds and , we will continue to support, promote, and focus on practical steps that create positive change within our communities.

Looking forward to supporting a fantastic community event again👋🏻
