Well done to the Let's Get Together group for receiving joint 2nd place - well deserved! All the entries were magnificent but we're very proud of our members and volunteers for their hard work creating the minibus and three scarecrows!

All of the 'travel' themed scarecrows helped illustrate transport is more than just getting from one place to another. Our Friendly Bus journeys allow members to access medical appointments and treatment, stay independent by shopping for themselves, have the opportunity to make friends and chat to someone else!

If you'd like to join our volunteer team, we'd love to hear from you! Some members love it that much they like to be kept busy, and some can only commit an hour a week - it's up to you!

Did you spot this fabulous entry in to the Scarecrow Festival over the weekend?

Well done to Julia and Graham Sockett, the Let’s Get Together group and everyone else involved. It looked absolutely superb! So much hard work went in to making it all, you should be so proud.

The display featured a driver, passengers, a swimmer and even a support therapy dog!

What a great way to showcase what we do - we help members access their medical appointments and local groups/exercise classes, to stay independent by shopping for themselves and provide social trips and opportunities to make friends, socialise and talk to someone - which could be the only opportunity that week. Travel is so much more than just getting somewhere.

If you’d like to be part of our fabulous volunteering team, we’d love to hear from you! We have lots of rewarding roles, and there’s no minimum commitment. Some of our volunteers enjoy it that much, they love to have lots of journeys. Some can only commit to 1-2 a week - they all help and there’s no pressure!

𝗪𝗲'𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝟴 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿!
Boccia (pronounced Bot-cha) can be played seated or stood, making it inclusive and ideal for all abilities. It is low-impact, fun and a great way to socialise - so come and give it a try!

It takes place 2-4pm on the second Thursday of every month at St Leonard's Hall in Bridgnorth and is run by Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin. The fare is £6 return and entry is £4 including refreshments.

To be able to fit it in with our other journeys to groups, this is currently limited to Broseley members who need to meet the minibus at Broseley Library. If you're in Much Wenlock or would like to be picked up if it was possible in the future, please let us know. We'll keep a note so that if we can ever make that happen, we can let you know!

Our new Boccia group is launching in October in Bridgnorth!

📅Starting on October 8, join us for monthly Boccia taking place the second Tuesday of each month.
📍Our venue, St Leonard's Hall Church, Bridgnorth, WV16 4NR is accessible by local bus links or there is free off-street parking.
🕛The sessions will take place 2.00pm-4.00pm
☕Sessions are £4.00 per person, including light refreshments and the chance to socialise.

Members were treated to a day out last week to Wightwick Manor & Gardens. Special thanks to them, our volunteer driver, Peter and passenger assistants - everyone had a wonderful time and were blessed with good weather too!

We're members of the Community Transport Association who provide support to community transport groups like us and lobby the government for change.

𝗗𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗮𝘄𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲?
Due to the increasing demand for our services, we urgently need volunteers in Broseley and Much Wenlock. We need car drivers to take people to their appointments and minibus drivers for our shopping and social trips. Could this be you or do you know anyone that might be interested?

Sadly, we're having to decline more and more requests to take people to, what is usually a medical appointment. We really do hate saying no. We appreciate how important it is to get the medical support needed.

One of the biggest misconceptions is that you have to dedicate a whole day or more to volunteering for us, but we don't operate like that....

Simply tell us any days you're definitely unavailable (e.g. days you might work or look after grandchildren). When we receive a request for a day you could potentially be available, we'll email you details of the journey. If you can do it, that's great! If you can't, no problem - we'll ask the next volunteer on our list.

Don't forget the Priorslee & St Georges Charity B**r Festival starts this evening at 5pm and tomorrow at midday - fun event with free entry and live music.

We're very grateful for the proceeds to be shared with Friendly Bus to help us continue supporting our communities.
