🦒🌸 A Sun-kissed Safari at Cotswold Wildlife Park! 🌞🦩
​The weather was absolutely superb—glorious sunshine all day long, making it the perfect afternoon for an adventure. We had such a lovely time exploring the stunning, beautifully kept gardens, which are bursting with summer colour at the moment. 💮🌳
​Of course, the real stars of the show were the animals! From watching the majestic giraffes graze to spotting the rhinos, penguins, and everything in between.
​There is nothing quite like a stroll in the sunshine, surrounded by amazing wildlife and great company, to put a smile on everyone's face. It’s safe to say we all came back with wonderful memories (and perhaps a bit of a sun-kissed glow)! 🍦🦁

🎬🎭 Diving Into the Life of a Legend: Dame Maggie Smith! 🎭🎬
​This afternoon, we gathered together for our Biography Club! Today we turned our spotlight onto the legendary and brilliant Dame Maggie Smith. 🌟✨
​It was an absolutely wonderful afternoon filled with fascinating stories, fond memories, and plenty of laughs. We loved looking back at her incredible, decades-long career—from her iconic, sharp-witted roles in Downton Abbey and Harry Potter to her early days on the stage and classic silver screen performances.
​Everyone thoroughly enjoyed sharing their favourite film moments and learning a bit more about the remarkable woman behind those unforgettable characters. It’s safe to say she is an absolute favourite among our residents!
​What a lovely way to spend the afternoon together. We are already looking forward to deciding who our next biographical subject will be! 📚☕

🐊🌍 An Un-snappy-believable Afternoon! 🌍🐊
​We had a brilliant time today welcoming a fantastic speaker from Crocodiles of the World!
​The passion and enthusiasm he brought into the room was completely infectious. We were treated to a deeply fascinating and informative talk all about these incredible reptiles, learning about their habitats, behaviors, and the amazing conservation work being done to protect them.
​Everyone was completely captivated from start to finish, and it sparked some wonderful conversations and questions afterward. A huge thank you to Crocodiles of the World for such a memorable and engaging afternoon!

🏆💐 Celebrating 27 Incredible Years with Jeanette! 💐🏆
​On Monday, we held a very special, memorable celebration for Jeanette, and it’s safe to say she was completely overwhelmed by all the love in the room!
​This year marks an incredible 27 years that Jeanette has worked at our home. She has been with us since the very beginning and actually treated our very first resident! Such amazing dedication is hard to find, and we are so incredibly grateful for her lifetime of care.
​The day was full of wonderful surprises, including a visit from our former General Manager, Catherine Lines, who made the time to personally attend! She brought along Jeanette's long-time physio friend of over 40 years, Sarah, who she works with at our sister home Rush Court. They joined Rares and two of our residents—whom Jeanette works closely with for their physio—for a truly lovely celebratory lunch. 🥂🍽️
​After lunch, Lynne our CTC (formally worked as our deputy along with Catherine) gave a heartfelt speech and read out a beautiful, custom-written "Ode to Jeanette". Rares then presented Jeanette with some gorgeous flowers, a special award trophy, and a certificate of appreciation for everything she does. As an extra special touch, she was even presented with a "Blue Peter" style badge! 🏅✨
​We set up a comment board in reception for any residents or visitors who would like to leave their own nice messages and well-wishes for Jeanette to read. 📝❤️
​Thank you, Jeanette, for your 27 years of incredible dedication, kindness, and hard work. You mean the world to everyone here at our home! 💙

🎨📝 A Creative Morning & A Tense Scrabble Showdown! 📝🎨
​We started our morning on a relaxing note with a lovely, creative colouring session. It was a beautiful way to spend the morning chatting, unwinding, and bringing some bright, vibrant pictures to life.
​The calm didn't last for long, though, as things took a very exciting turn after lunch! We hosted a incredibly tense and competitive game of Scrabble, going head-to-head in two teams. Both sides brought their absolute best vocabulary and tactics to the board, racking up a massive combined score of just under 600 points! 🔠💥
​It was a brilliantly played, game from start to finish, and a fantastic time was had by all.

We started the day with our trusty shop trolley making its rounds. The trolley visited all the rooms across the home, ensuring everyone could stock up on their essential toiletries, favourite treats, and snacks right from the comfort of their bedroom doors. While on our rounds, we also enjoyed a lot of fantastic bird watching together, looking out at the bird feeders which have been absolutely buzzing with activity today! It's always a wonderful opportunity for some dedicated 1-to-1 catch-ups and chats along the way.
​Next up, it was time for our pre-lunch social down at the bar! We enjoyed a refreshing tipple and a great catch-up with friends before heading in for a delicious Sunday roast.
​To top it all off, the anticipation is building because our World Cup sweepstake is officially drawn and ready to go! 🏆⚽️ Everyone has their teams, and the competitive spirit is already kicking in.

😁✨ Brushing Up on Our Smiles! ✨🪥
​On Wednesday, we celebrated National Smile Month with our very own Oral Health Awareness Day!
​Our wonderful Oral Health Champions, Helen and Lynne, were out and about visiting residents in their rooms to spread some valuable awareness. They handed out helpful information leaflets, shared top tips on keeping teeth clean and healthy, and gifted our special "Guide to Healthy Teeth" to our newest residents. They also made sure anyone needing a new toothbrush was fully stocked up!
​While we didn't capture photos of the team on their rounds, our staff (and residents!) couldn't resist posing with these brilliant "smiles on sticks" to mark the occasion! 📸👇

🧩🎬 A Wonderful Saturday of Games & Nature! 🎬🧩
​We’ve had a fantastic day here today, filled with close competition, beautiful wildlife, and classic cinema!
​Our morning kicked off with a game of Qwirkle. It was a nail-biter right until the very end, with a super close finishing score for everyone! Everyone definitely stepped up a gear today—we are convinced some secret practice has been going on behind the scenes! 😉
​We also spent some lovely 1:1 time together this morning, watching the woodpecker visiting Gill's bird feeder to eat her nuts. It’s always so special to sit quietly and enjoy the local wildlife right outside the window. 🐦✨
​This afternoon, we gathered for our regular Saturday Film Club. We all settled down together to watch the timeless classic Lassie, which brought back some wonderful nostalgia and was the perfect, relaxing way to spend the rest of the day.
​A beautiful mix of fun, friendship, and relaxation to start the weekend! 💙
