It’s definitely a cosy room, and has a shared bathroom space, so is very much a budget option, but if you are someone who just sees their room as somewhere to sleep, then this option is perfect for you because everything else that’s included makes this an absolute bargain. £200 deposit, remainder due in instalments over the year. But one of the reasons I love Freedom Flow so much is down to the variability of movement that it encourages, and varying the ways in which we move through the world is also incredibly important. When we have been consistent in a movement practice, the delayed onset muscle soreness we feel begins to lessen, if not completely disappear, as our bodies get used to the repeated load and action. This is particularly true of the more traditional yoga structures that focus on alignment and recreation of a particular linear form. With Freedom Flow (Saturdays, 08:10), movement is variable and unpredictable, just like the real world, and as such we use many more muscles, move in many more planes, and stay much more present as a result as we navigate our ever-changing and variable physical, emotional and mental bodies.

Variability is key.

Case in point - I'm going climbing tomorrow - I'm expecting much more in the way of muscle soreness on Sunday than I ever experience currently after a lifting session. It's not that my habits aren't increasing strength, endurance, resistance and bone density, but they are still habits, so I'm excited to switch things up tomorrow afternoon.

Variability is key. Come and join Freedom Flow on Saturdays at 08:10. Reduced-rate drop-in class available on Saturday, 6th June so you can try before committing to the summer term block.

You don't need to be proficient to keep coming along to practice.

You don't need to look or act a certain way to keep coming along to practice.

You are building bone density, muscle strength, functional mobility, proprioception, resilience, stamina, self-awareness, confidence, and self-esteem.

Keep coming, keep practising. This isn't aesthetics, this isn't ego, this isn't cliques. This is real world sustenance on a piece of a pvc. This is community and longevity in a world that keeps us separate and struggling. This is long term commitment in a world that favours short term fixes and immediate instagramable results.

Keep coming. As you are. Where you are. No matter how long it's been, no matter how it looks to anyone else. Keep coming. You are welcome exactly as you are right now. Start from there. And keep starting from there. Everytime. No one advanced. Every one just doing their own brilliant thing. If you enjoy it, just keep coming.

Yorkshire or Andalucia? Yorkshire or Andalucia? There will be hiking on both (although much more gentle and mindful in the heat of the Alpujarran sun); live music on both; yoga on both (of course); and lots more too but the vistas will be very different - are you a rolling hills and dales kind of person or do you prefer breathtaking mountain views?
