❓️❓️“Was that my stomach… or was it yours"❓️❓️
📖The other day I had one of my lovely regular clients on the massage table. She was completely relaxed, hadn’t eaten recently, and definitely wasn’t hungry… yet her stomach started making the loudest rumbling noises!
🤣 We both laughed — but it was actually a beautiful reminder of how connected our body and nervous system really are. It's happened in the past, with other clients too. Remember your massage table rumble?
✈️Many people don’t realise that stress can have a huge impact on our digestive system. When we’re constantly rushing, worrying, juggling work, family, responsibilities and everyday pressures, our body can stay stuck in fight or flight mode.
🦁Our ancient nervous system was designed to protect us from danger — like running away from a lion . In that moment, blood flow is redirected towards the muscles so we can escape quickly. Digestion becomes less of a priority because survival comes first.
The problem is… our body doesn’t always know the difference between a real threat and modern-day stress.
😫A busy inbox.
😫A stressful commute.
😫A never-ending to-do list.
😫Financial worries.
😫Feeling like we always have to be “on”.
‼️The result can be digestive symptoms such as bloating, indigestion, acid reflux, nausea, tummy discomfort — and yes, sometimes a very noisy stomach!
💝 But when we begin to feel safe, calm and relaxed, our nervous system can shift from fight or flight into rest and digest mode.
💆♀️This is where massage can support your wellbeing. It’s not just about easing muscle tension — it’s about giving your mind and body permission to pause, slow down and reset.
💤That quiet time on the massage table can help create a moment of calm where your nervous system can rebalance, allowing your body’s natural processes — including digestion — to work more effectively.
💝Sometimes the biggest signs that your body is relaxing are the ones we don’t expect… even a loud tummy rumble! 💚
Your body is always communicating with you. Are you listening⁉️
