This is the ocean at Teignmouth, Devon. From when I was there on retreat.

I just love watching the waves. The rhythmic motion. The predictability, yet how each wave has it’s own unique signature.

There is something specific that happens when you watch water this powerful. Something different to still water. Different to a quiet river.

Churning. Crashing. Reforming.

Over and over.

The rhythm of the waves, even chaotic ones, gives your nervous system something to synchronise with.

A pattern bigger than your thoughts. Bigger than your to-do list. Bigger than whatever today is asking of you.

And for just a moment…

You remember that you are a very small thing in a very vast world. And somehow that is the most relieving feeling there is.

Stay with it.

All 90 seconds.

Let the ocean do what it does. 🌊

Every June without fail, the Forest of Dean turns pink with Foxgloves. 🌸

Every single year they come back. Without fail. Tall. Pink. Extraordinary. Rising up through the Forest of Dean like they own the place. And honestly? They do.

The foxglove was the first flower I ever fell in love with as a child.

Something about those gorgeous pink bell-shaped blooms, wild and untamed, growing wherever they please. I think that is why I love gladioli so much now. Same energy. Same shape.

I even have some growing in the garden this year. 🌸

But nothing quite compares to finding foxgloves in the wild. Whole groves of them appearing through the forest. That deep, lush pink against the green. It is one of those sights that just makes you stop. 🙏

What I love most about them is their reliability. The forest keeps bringing its bounty and its beauty with the most wonderful, reassuring regularity.

Season after season. Year after year. You can count on it. 🌳 And right now the foxgloves are telling me something.

Summer is almost here. The solstice is just a fortnight away. The longest day.

We are HERE already. Wow. 🌞

This my heart is full of pink flowers and forest light.

What is blooming where you are right now? 🌿

Other people's behaviour might not say what we think it does!

Because here is something worth sitting with. Everyone is born in a different place. A different time. A different culture. To different parents.

And from the moment we arrive in the world we start building a rulebook. How do I engage with people? What are the shoulds and oughts and musts of being in relationship with others?

But here is the thing. No two people's rulebook is the same.

Because that rulebook is a combination of nurture, what we have learned from birth, and nature, who we fundamentally are at our core.

So when someone's behaviour is causing us upset…

Before we decide what it means… It is worth asking ourselves honestly.

Am I actually reading this correctly? It might have nothing to do with us at all. The most powerful thing you can do in those moments is simply check in.
That one question changes everything. Because most of the stories we tell ourselves about other people… We wrote them alone.

Something to sit with this week.

It is important to not take things too seriously. 😄

I took this photo a couple of days after a significant and painful breakup.I had been feeling really sad and down in the dumps. So I took myself to one of my favourite places in the world.

Stourhead. 🌳

I had been sat reflecting on a bench with a view when this helicopter seed spiralled down and landed on my lap. Sycamore, Maple, Ash or Elm? Anyone know?? 🤔

It instantly made me smile. And it looked exactly like a moustache. 😄 So I took this photo. And noticed my mood had completely changed. Sometimes distracting our mind with fripperies is just what we need. Rather than focussing on the serious stuff all the time. 💫

I appreciate this can be easier said than done. It helps when the distractions fall from the sky. 😉 But this is actually the essence of mindfulness and meditation.

Taking back control of our mind. Directing it where we choose. Rather than allowing it to run the show.

Going for a walk. Watching a funny film. Concentrating on the breath. These are all ways we can gently steer our brain away from catastrophising. Away from the melancholic thought loops.

And it is amazing how a little break from our own thinking can change the rest of the day. 🙏

What did you last do to pick yourself up when things got tough?

Nobody had simplified Traditional Chinese Medicine like this before. I know that now. In 2020 I did not know if I was onto something or completely mad.

A practitioner attended one of my workshops. One day of training. The following week a client arrived in agony. Hit by a golf ball. In serious pain.

Using what she had learned the day before, this practitioner identified which meridian had been affected and set to work. After a few minutes the client felt an electric shock. And all the pain dissolved. 💫

That story is a big part of why I wrote this book. The Four Functions Framework started in 2020. Movement restrictions. Time to think. Time to go deep.

I had trained in acupressure and found it extraordinarily complicated to remember and apply. So I did what I have always done. I looked for the pattern. And I found it.

I developed a completely new way for Western minds to understand, remember and apply Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Meridian System. Simple enough for self help. Powerful enough for clinical practice.

I ran it past TCM experts to make sure I was genuinely onto something. Every single one confirmed it was simple, novel and original. 🙏

Including the renowned John R. Cross FCSP, Dr. Ac. who has written several TCM books himself.

His words about my work? "Excellent. Inspired. And Original."

I ran the first workshop for practitioners. It sold out. The feedback was jaw dropping. And every single person in that room told me the same thing.

Write the book. 📖 So I did. And I am now sending it to a new literary agency this month.

Everything crossed they are the right fit. 🤞 The full story of how this all began is on the blog.

I found this on the floor during my walk this morning.

Just picked it up. And stopped. Look at the detail. 🪶

Every single strand. The way it fans out at the edges. Almost like a moth's antenna. Or a reed caught mid-sway in the wind.

Something so small. So easily walked past. So completely extraordinary up close.

This is what I mean when I talk about mindful walking.

Not a special technique. Not a practice you have to prepare for. Just… slowing down enough to actually see what is already there. 🌿

The forest floor is full of things like this. Waiting to be noticed. Most of us never look down.

When did you last stop on a walk and actually look?

Not at your phone. Not at the path ahead. But at something tiny, right there at your feet. 💫

95 appointments booked in 48 hours. Wow. 🙏

This is for all 27 of my regular clients.

The ones who just came flying in and snapped up 95 appointments between now and the end of October.

I put the word out a couple of weeks ago. And honestly? They came like a swarm of piranhas. 😄

In the most wonderful way possible. I am fully booked. And I am so deeply grateful. 💫

First, a small but important clarification.

Cosmic Teapot is very much still running. 🌿 There was some confusion a while back about this.

The cabin in the mindfulness garden behind my home is open.

Busy. Thriving. Full.

But I've closed the doors to NEW clients as I don't have space in the diary for them. For in-person Acumassage and bodywork sessions.

What I love most about this work is being part of people's journeys over time. Watching their bodies shift. Watching their lives shift. Seeing what comes to the surface as we continue what I call the process of Systematic Unravelling.

Because that is what this is.

So many of us reach our 30s, 40s, 50s and start to notice that things ache. That patterns keep repeating. That the bike accident from childhood, the sporting injury, the fall, the stress, the grief…

Is still somewhere in the body. Still held. Still affecting things.

That is what I work on with my regular clients.

Layer by layer. Slowly and deliberately. 🙏

To every single client who has put their trust in me over and over again…

Thank you. Truly. It is the greatest privilege of my work. 💜

And watch this space…

Because even though I am now fully booked for in-person sessions, I am opening up online holistic health coaching very soon. 💻

Monday afternoons and Wednesday mornings.

£36 for 45 minutes.

£48 for 60 minutes.

With the option to add a follow-up email including videos, acupressure points, dietary suggestions and exercises to support your progress between sessions.

So if you cannot get to me in person, this could be your way in.

What if the pain that keeps coming back…

The exhaustion that sleep does not fix…

The anxiety, the digestive issues, the brain fog, the feeling of being permanently slightly off…

Were not problems to manage? What if they were messages?

Sent through a system so intelligent, so precise, so ancient that it mapped the entire human body thousands of years before modern medicine existed?

And what if that system was still working perfectly? Just waiting for someone who could actually read it. 🌿

This is the work I do.

I am a psychologist, bodyworker and Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner. And I work at the intersection of all three.

Because the body does not separate your emotions from your organs. Your nervous system from your meridians. Your history from your physical pain.

Neither do I. 💫

Through Acumassage, my own modality combining TCM acupressure with intuitive and remedial bodywork through the myofascial system…

I do not just treat where it hurts. I read the whole map. Because in 3,000 years of medicine, one truth has never changed.

The symptom is rarely where the story starts. And the answer is almost never where you expect to find it. 🙏 This is not surface level wellness.

This is your body finally being understood.

If something has been persisting that nothing else has shifted…

This might be why.

And this might be what changes it.

Your nervous system responds to the colour green before your brain even registers it. 🌿

This is not wellness marketing. This is biology.

Research consistently shows that exposure to the colour green reduces cortisol levels, lowers heart rate and activates the parasympathetic nervous system.

The part responsible for rest, repair and recovery.

Green sits in the middle of the visible light spectrum. It requires the least adjustment from the human eye to process. Which is thought to be one of the reasons it feels so effortless to look at. 💚

For thousands of years our nervous systems evolved surrounded by it.

Leaves. Grass. Canopies. Forest floors. Green was safety. Green was food. Green was home. And your body still remembers that. 🌳

This is a large part of why being in the woods feels like an exhale.

Why a walk in the Forest of Dean shifts something that a walk down a high street simply cannot.

You are not imagining it. Your cells are responding to something real. 🙏

The Japanese call it Shinrin-yoku. Forest bathing. And they have been prescribing it medically for decades.

When did you last spend real time surrounded by green?

Mindful Moments 🌿

Discernment vs Judgement.

In relationships this distinction changes everything.

When someone's behaviour is rattling your cage…

When something they consistently do leaves you feeling uncomfortable or drained…

Judgement says:

They are wrong.

They should behave differently.

They are at fault for not showing up in a way that suits me. 🌀

Discernment says something different.

It says:

The way this person behaves does not work for me.

The way they show up has a negative effect on me that I find hard to reconcile.

Same situation.

Completely different energy. 💫

Judgement puts shame and blame on the other person.

Discernment keeps it where it actually belongs.

With you.

With how it lands for you.

With what works for you and what does not. 🌿

Discernment might mean you remove yourself from the situation.

From the person.

Not because they are wrong.

But because it does not serve you.

That is a very different thing.

And it is worth sitting with.

Because sometimes we also have to ask ourselves honestly…

Are we actually reading the situation correctly in the first place? 🙏

That is where it gets really interesting.

Something to ponder this week.
