🐴✨ A very special visit to High Brake House ✨🐴

A huge thank you to Katy and Diane for bringing along their gorgeous American Miniature Horses to see us.

Our residents and visitors were absolutely delighted, with lots of smiles, gentle strokes, and plenty of photos. These beautiful little horses brought so much joy and warmth to everyone at the home.

Thank you both so much for taking the time to share them with us, it really was a visit to remember.

🎶 Out and about again at High Brake House 🎶

Our residents were treated to another wonderful afternoon at the Chatburn Classical Concerts, Season 3 🎹✨ This time we were entertained by a fantastic performance from pianist Peter Greenhalgh.

We were having such a lovely time enjoying the music that we completely forgot to snap any photos of ourselves in the moment. Sometimes the best afternoons are the ones you're too busy enjoying to capture.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in bringing such beautiful live music to our local community. We can't wait for the next concert in the series! 🎼💛

Nothing means more to us than families trusting us with their loved ones — even for a short stay 💛
This lovely message came in after a two-week respite stay, and it sums up exactly what we're about.
"My mum came to stay with you for 2 weeks whilst we were away. We cannot thank you enough for the care you took of her in that time. The genuine interest in getting to know her before her stay and the warmth of all your staff shone through. She loved the beach party, ice cream and fish and chips yesterday and the dance class during the week. She even came home with NO washing. Thank you."

Another week has flown by at High Brake House

From beautiful flower arrangements 🌸 to friendly competition over indoor games 🎲, pampering sessions with manicures, and getting creative with arts and crafts 🎨 — our residents have shown once again that every day here is full of colour, laughter and connection

Whether it's steady hands snipping stems, a competitive streak coming out over a board game, chatting away while nails are polished to perfection, or paint brushes coming out for some crafty fun — there's always something happening at High Brake House to bring smiles to faces.

🎬✨ Meet Brenda's New Roommate ✨🎬

We just LOVE seeing our residents make their rooms truly their own here at High Brake House — and Brenda has taken that to a whole new (6ft!) level!

Say hello to Brenda's larger-than-life cardboard cut-out of her all-time favourite leading man, Hugh Jackman 🙌 He's now standing proudly in her bedroom, keeping her company and putting a smile on everyone's face who pops in to say hi.

Brenda has been a devoted fan for years, and we think it's only fair Hugh knows just how much he means to her — so we've reached out to him on social media to let him know one of his biggest fans is right here at High Brake House. Fingers crossed for a reply, Hugh — Brenda would be absolutely over the moon! 🤞💛

This is exactly what we love to see — our home, our residents' personalities shining through.

🚴💛 TOUR OF BRITAIN COMES TO CLITHEROE! 💛🚴

The Lloyds Tour of Britain rolled straight past our front door yesterday, and we made sure the riders knew High Brake House was cheering them on. Even the weather did not dampen spirits or stop us from supporting the amazing riders.

Residents and staff cheered as the peloton road by at quite some speed, so close together.

A brilliant event right on our doorstep. Well done to all the riders taking on this incredible race, and thank you to everyone who came out to make it such a special moment.

A Very Special Visit to High Brake House!

What a wonderful afternoon we had this week when we welcomed Mr Gordon Fairweather back to High Brake House – a place very close to his heart.

Gordon lived at High Brake House as a young boy back in the 1930s, when his father, Dr Fairweather, called it home for the family. It was a real privilege to have him back through our doors nearly a century later!

Gordon spent time chatting with our staff, residents, and their families, sharing fascinating stories about the history of the house and how life looked here all those years ago. He even brought along some absolutely amazing photographs from that era, giving everyone a real glimpse into the past.

Our residents loved hearing his memories, and it was a beautiful reminder of just how much history lives within these walls. Thank you so much, Gordon, for taking the time to visit us and share your family's story – you're welcome back any time.
