When managing challenging behaviour, it is important to:

• Stay calm and patient
• Listen and communicate clearly
• Try to understand possible triggers
• Give the person space when appropriate
• Follow their individual support or care plan
• Seek additional support when needed

Every person is different, which is why a person-centred approach is so important.
