There's just over a month to go until our Volunteer Louisa takes on a sponsored 10K walk around Willen Lake, Milton Keynes, in support of Equilore!

Louisa is generously giving her time and energy to raise funds to support Equilore in the work we do and help us continue making a difference in our community.

Please join us in cheering Louisa on and if you can, consider supporting her fundraising journey.

Thank You Louisa! 🫶

🎉 Huge congratulations to Amira! 🎉

We are incredibly proud to share that Amira has successfully completed her challenge of climbing the equivalent height of Ben Nevis on an indoor climbing wall! 🧗‍♀️⛰️

Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the UK, stands at an impressive 1,345 metres (4,413 feet), and through determination, perseverance, and plenty of hard work, Amira conquered the same height indoors.

Challenges like this don’t just test physical strength. They require resilience, focus, and a positive mindset. Amira showed all of these qualities in abundance and should be immensely proud of her achievement.

Please join us in congratulating Amira on this fantastic accomplishment! 👏💙

There’s still time to donate before she completes her next mission! Visit Amira’s go fund me page !

Horses experience the world differently than we do.

From the way they listen and observe, to how they respond to touch and familiarity. Their senses play a huge role in how they communicate and connect.

Understanding how horses experience their environment helps us build trust, safety and stronger relationships with them.

Can you spot the horses?

Taken through a flowering hawthorn bush, our quiet herd stands in a green field, with bright yellow rapeseed stretching out behind them.

It’s a simple scene, but it holds so much of what we see everyday through our work with horses. Moments of stillness, grounding, and connection that often speak louder than words.

At our equine therapy charity, we see how time with horses helps people slow down, regulate, and reconnect with themselves in a way that feels natural and unforced.

We’d love to hear from you:
What does this photo bring up for you?
And have horses ever played a role in your wellbeing or life?

Your experiences help us share what equine therapy is really about.

Thank you South Oxfordshire Crematorium and The Hummingbird Centre for all your support. Collaboration between these organisations changes lives 🧡

South Oxfordshire Crematorium are proud to announce the presentation of a £5,000 donation to The Hummingbird Centre through our ICCM Metal Recycling Scheme from the funds from the end of 2025.
The Hummingbird Centre, based in Bicester , founded by Mechelle Harris, provides invaluable support and therapy services to individuals diagnosed with cancer and their families. Their mission is:
“To relieve the mental and physical sickness of persons diagnosed with a form of cancer by the provision of support services for such persons and their families.”
We previously donated to the charity in early 2025 but we wanted to support this incredible charity again for the amazing work they do in providing the help, guidance, and sanctuary that families need whilst navigating their cancer journey. The centre offers support in many forms, including counselling and alternative therapies such as Equine Therapy, which is delivered through Equilore.
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of visiting Equilore to meet Mechelle Harris, founder of The Hummingbird Centre, and Dr Loes Koorenhof, who founded Equilore in 2017. It was truly inspiring to see first-hand the positive impact these services have on the individuals and families they support.
We are delighted to know that the funds donated have been used to facilitate Equine Therapy sessions for individuals supported by The Hummingbird Centre.
Equilore’s mission is:
“We believe that Equine Assisted Therapies are highly effective for those experiencing mental health challenges, often where traditional therapies have not worked. We are committed to removing barriers and ensuring that adults and children have timely access to professional mental health support.”
We cannot thank both charities enough for the constant help, support, dedication and care they provide to individuals and families at a time in their lives when support is needed most. What they offer is truly invaluable.
Thank you to The Hummingbird Centre and Equilore for the compassionate and life-changing work you continue to provide within our community. 💛
