Positive thinking isnāt just looking on the bright side, itās a mindset shift that can truly change your life.
Read on to learn how having a positive mindset can help your self belief, boost motivation and help you achieve your goals. Hereās the science š
Our brains struggle to tell the difference between reality and vivid imagination. So if we take time to imagine things working out as we want them to and how that looks and feels, our brains actively form new neural pathways.
Our thoughts begin to shift as we start to feel that it is possible to achieve this outcome.
This new positive mindset stimulates the Recticular Activating System, the part of the brain that chooses what we notice, leading us to naturally prioritise opportunities that may help us achieve our imagined goals.
Whilst our subconscious is wired to be cautious of unfamiliar thought patterns, regular visualisation removes resistance, meaning that we are less likely to self sabotage on the path to achieving our goals.
If we not only visualise our goals, but also imagine in detail all the steps along the way, our brain will shift, believing that not only is it possible, we are very capable of getting there. This in turn boosts motivation and increases likelihood of success.
