Students - protect yourself against Meningococcal (MenB)!

MenB is a bacterial infection that can cause serious illnesses, such as meningitis and septicaemia. The risks increase when mixing or living closely with lots of new people.

From 20 July, for a limited time, a free MenB vaccination is being offered to thousands of young people ahead of the 2026 academic year.

You will be eligible for the vaccine if:
- You complete Year 13 in summer 2026 (born between 1 Sep 2007 and 31 Aug 2008)
- Are under 25 and going to university or moving into residential student accommodation for the first time.

2 doses of the vaccine are needed, 4 weeks apart, for full protection.

Protect yourself before term starts.

Book your MenB vaccination appointments at a participating pharmacy today:

The Met Office has issued extreme heat warnings as temperatures are expected to rise significantly across parts of the UK, with the potential for record-breaking June temperatures.
Hot weather can affect anyone, but older people, young children, pregnant women and those with long-term health conditions are particularly at risk.

To stay safe:
☀️ Keep out of the sun during the hottest part of the day (11am–3pm)
💧 Drink plenty of water and avoid becoming dehydrated
🏠 Keep your home as cool as possible by closing curtains and blinds
👒 Wear loose, light-coloured clothing and a hat when outdoors
👵 Check on older relatives, neighbours and vulnerable friends
🚑 Seek medical advice if you or someone else becomes unwell due to the heat

Please take care of yourself and others during this period of hot weather.

‼️PATIENT NOTICE‼️

We understand the fustration about the reminders of appointments no longer being sent but please note this is a decision we have made as a practice.

Due to changes in NHS funding, it was a decision made by all practices to stop sending appointment texts. This is because appointment texts have been identified as the area that has the highest spend.

We will still be sending out routine text messages and other communications including:

💌Test results & clinical updates
💌Invitations for reviews, vaccinations & screening programmes
💌Info about changes to services of practice updates
💌Messages from clinicians where appropriate

If you can no longer attend an appointment, please let us know as soon as possible.

Appointments can be cancelled by either;
▪️Using NHS App
▪️Calling the surgery
▪️Speaking to reception

Please ensure we have your up to date contact number

Thank you🙂
