A trip to the docks to see the Nao victoria, a replica ship of the victoria who was sucessful to circumnavigate the world.

Weather had other plans but nice trip out sneak peak and stop at the cafe.
Lots of chatting, laughter and team work. Not all trips go to plan but we always make the most of it.

This Photography Day, we wanted to do something a little different. Rather than simply taking photographs of our residents, we handed the camera over to them and asked:

“What makes you happy? What would you like us to capture through your eyes?”

The answers were beautiful, personal and reminded us that happiness can be found in the simplest of moments.

☕ J.M chose a pretty picture of R.C with her cup of tea. She loves spending time with R.C in her room, chatting, giggling and putting the world to rights.

🌸 R.C loves a good old-fashioned chat with J.M, lots of giggles and walking in the garden — simple moments that bring so much joy.

🍂 K.H chose to photograph herself drawing an autumnal picture of trees, with just one leaf left on a tree. It was an idea she had thought about for years but had never got around to drawing until now. Sometimes it’s never too late to bring an idea to life. ❤️

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 T.N wanted to capture the people at Alexander House who have become like family to him — Kate, Kathy, Zach and Daisy. He also told us how Jill, her son little Zach Hank & Daisy’s daughter Blu bring him so much joy and happiness. ❤️

❤️ S.W photograph needed no explanation. His daughter travelled all the way from Kenya to see him for the first time in six years. It was incredibly emotional to witness. They spent precious time catching up and FaceTiming his other children back in Kenya. A moment that means so much.

🤝 D.H and her husband have been married for an incredible 60 years. Her husband loves coming to visit her for dinner and a catch-up. This is how they sit every time — side by side, often hand in hand, sometimes without saying a word. Just enjoying being together. After 60 years, that speaks volumes.

🥰 R.K simply wanted a photograph of herself standing — so that’s exactly what we did! Here she is with her husband and his daughter, who travelled from Kenya to see them for the first time in six years. Another very special family moment captured forever.

Today reminded us that photography isn’t just about taking a picture.

It’s about memories, relationships, family, friendship, happiness and the little things that make life special.

These are our residents’ moments.
Their memories. Their happiness. Their stories. Through their eyes. 📸❤️

Two of our Ambassadors joined local MP Mike Tapp for a coffee morning in Dover today to discuss local issues and anything he can take to parliament.

Our Team of Ambassadors are always looking for ways to include more community and improve the home and service provided. Some areas they discussed were Folkestone road, how to get it back to its glory, traffic in Dover, care staff being noticed more and pay and the lack of accesible vehicles in Dover.
Lovely morning and if nothing comes from it, we fell in love with Scooby his Dog.

Thank you to Roy and friends for bringing a selection of bikes.
Residents talk about their old bikes or remember family members bikes. They had great time last time so we got them back and it did not dissappoint.
They tested the bikes and had alot of chats and talk of bikes.

A massive THANK YOU to everyone who came along and celebrated our Rock ‘n’ Roll Party yesterday at Alexander House! 💕🎸🕺💃

What a day! The music was playing, the dance floor was rocking, and everyone was ready to hand jive! It was fantastic to see so many residents, families and staff getting into the spirit by dressing up in fabulous 1950s outfits. From leather jackets and poodle skirts to glamorous curls and red lipstick, and lots of pink ladies everyone looked absolutely amazing!

We tucked into delicious American-style diner food, sang our hearts out with our fantastic live singer, and were thrilled to welcome the wonderful Dover Princesses, who sprinkled a little extra magic across the day.

A huge shout-out to our incredible staff—you really are the ones that we want! ❤️ Thank you for all your hard work, creativity and enthusiasm in making the day so special. Every decoration, every costume, every song and every smile helped create memories that will last a lifetime.

To everyone who came along and joined in the fun, thank you for making the atmosphere so electric. As they say… “Rock ‘n’ Roll is here to stay!” 🎶

Until next time… Keep on rockin’, keep on rollin’, and remember… we were born to hand jive! 🎤🎸❤️

‘We do not own the rights to this music 🎶’
