You may soon spot a slightly different version of Emma on our page.

We have been trying out an AI avatar of her, and so far it is proving very handy for quick updates and explainers.

It looks like Emma, sounds a bit like Emma, and has never once needed a coffee or had a diva fit before filming!

What it will not do is deliver your training. Every FabTraining course is still face-to-face, with a real trainer, real manikins and plenty of time for your questions.

The avatar is simply here to help us share useful information a little more often.

We would love to know what you think, so be kind but be honest. Would you rather hear from the real Emma, or does her digital double have potential?

November seems to be the month people suddenly realise their training certificates run out before Christmas.

If that sounds familiar, here are just of what we have coming up at our Driffield training room:

Every course is face-to-face and delivered by trainers who would much rather you practised CPR on a manikin or had a discussion with a real person than learnt it from a video.

We keep groups small on purpose, so spaces do go. Is there a course you have been meaning to book since the summer?

Eleven days to go, and we are getting loads of questions about what we are planning to wear!

Honestly we have not got that far however what we have got is a lot of pride, because on Friday 13th November FabTraining heads to Yorkshire, Humberside & North East Family Business Awards as finalists in Business Services, Social Impact and People's Choice.

On top of that, two of our own have been shortlisted in their own right: Claire Woodcock for Employee of the Year and Aaron Dougal for Next Generation Impact.

Claire is the reason anything at FabTraining actually happens on time, and Aaron has a way of making a room full of nervous delegates forget they were nervous.

Friday the 13th has never felt like a lucky date but we are hoping it will be for us!

Pumpkin carving season is officially upon us, which means kitchen knives, slippery pumpkin guts and a lot of people suddenly very grateful for the humble plaster. So here is a fun fact about where it came from.

In 1920 Earle Dickson worked as a cotton buyer for Johnson & Johnson in the United States. His wife Josephine was a keen cook who kept nicking and burning her fingers in the kitchen. Bandaging them herself was fiddly so Earle had a brainwave. He stuck small squares of gauze onto strips of surgical tape, covered them to keep them clean, and left a little stash ready for her to cut off and use whenever she needed one. His employer liked the idea so much that it went into production the following year, and Earle eventually ended up as a company vice president. Not bad for a man whose wife simply could not stop cutting herself on the carrots!

So if you are carving a pumpkin this week, maybe raise a glass to Josephine. And maybe carve away from your hand, too.

This is the one award where YOU decide! 💜

FabTraining is a finalist for the People’s Choice Award at Yorkshire, Humberside & North East Family Business Awards 2026. This award celebrates the family business most valued and supported by the public, and unlike the other categories, there is no judging panel. The winner is chosen entirely by public vote.

Being part of our community has always mattered to us just as much as the training itself. We spent a number of years as proud sponsors of our incredible local ladies’ rugby team Driffield Women & Girls RUFC as well as being shirt sponsor of Anaphylaxis FC. We look after several community defibrillators as their guardians, and run free community defibrillator sessions so that more people feel confident to use one when it matters. We are corporate sponsors of The Hinge Centre and offer support with the amazing work they do in the community. We work with Driffield Youth Action and support Girlguiding and The Scouts and through our Mini Medics sessions we teach children essential first aid skills they proudly take home to their families.
