🌈 🐾 Frank🐾 🌈
Our beautiful, loyal, quirky, dog died 2 weeks ago. Taken too early, Frank was 8 years old when we hugged him goodnight for the last time.
In the Autumn of last year we noticed that he was a little lethargic on his walks and was becoming a bit hesitant to jump up on things but in the absence of any other symptoms it took until Christmas before he was diagnosed with a mass in his spleen. His spleen was removed on Christmas week and we rejoiced when we got him back home with us on Christmas eve. The histology report came back as stromal sarcoma of the spleen. A rare cancer without much data, with a very vague life expectancy of between 2 weeks and 2 years. He had a low mitotic count of 7 so we hoped for as much time with him as possible.
Sadly, in May we recognised it was time and we had to put him down, surrounded by his loved ones. It still breaks me to see how he made eye-contact with each one of his family before he closed his eyes for the last time. He was my little shadow, he made us feel safe and supported the kids through their tough times, he made us laugh and never approved of us spending time staring at our phones (yes, he could talk and would vocalise his displeasure). The house now feels very empty without him and I still expect to hear him bark when the doorbell rings, or see him in the rear-view mirror when I'm in the car.
Run free sweet, curly-wurly. You were one of a kind 💔
