Do you, or anyone you know suffers from headaches, on a weekly or even DAILY basis.🤯

Don't worry! There are plenty of different treatments available to get rid of headaches & migraines! You don't have to put up with it any longer!

87% of headaches come from tight muscles in your shoulders and neck which places tension on your spine and head causing these headaches and migraines!
You’re not alone, most people don’t realise this is the culprit!

This is because you’re just so used to it, thinking you've 'slept funny' or it is a 'stiff neck'. Most people find themselves resting their head in an awkward position whilst driving, sitting at work and even watching tv!

This leads to these muscles becoming weak - causing tension!

What can be done? - Be aware of your neck position! 'I have arthritis so I just put up with the pain.'

- This is a common phrase I hear nearly every day from the clients who come into the clinic.

You DONT have to PUT UP with pain if you have arthritis... there are so many treatment interventions you can receive to reduce painful joints and increase movement to keep you active and able to do day-to-day activities!

Joint mobilisations is a manual therapy intervention, a type of passive movement of a skeletal joint. It is aimed at synovial joints to enhance the synovial fluid and promote movement in surrounding stretches as well as stretching the muscles and tendons.

Courtney et al (2022) conducted a study which identified a pain reduction in patients with oestoarthritis in their knees after joint mobilisations and increased movement.

Every runner gets sore and tight now and the especially when you start building up training volume and intensity before a big race, such as a half or full marathon. 🏃🏼‍♀️🏃

But it’s important to know when pain is signaling a serious injury, versus a general ache. 🧐

It’s important to be a good ‘body listener.’ If something feels different from ordinary pain, you should pay attention to it.

There’s a difference between healthy pain and unhealthy pain.

Stop Running If You’re Limping 🙈

We are a dedicated—and stubborn—bunch us runners 😂

Unfortunately, we tend to convince ourselves that our injuries aren’t that bad in order to continue training, even if it means we’re limping through our miles.

When runners come in to see us with an injury and ask if they can still race, We usually ask them two questions;

Is it mild enough for you to run through?
Is it changing your running form?

If the answer is ‘no,’ then it’s usually okay for them to keep training, but mindfully. It’s best to get a full assessment to identify if your pain is health or harmful! 🙌🏻

We hear so many people say "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"

However, our bodies work differently to this! Being "Broken" is very different to having the occasional niggles or stiffness into your joints. 🏌️‍♂️

Our clients sometimes say they didn't think their injuries were bad enough to come in and see us, therefore they don't nip the issue in the bud and it gets to the point where they are unable do the things they love! 🧘‍♀️💃

It is so frustrating being injured, believe us we know exactly how you feel but depending on your injury there may be other activities you can still do to keep you exercising and moving.

Trust us, it is better to keep moving rather than completely resting as doing nothing can delay the healing process and your recovery. However it is vital you get a full diagnosis before trying any exercises to reduce the likelihood of any further injuries or making the current injury worse.

Swimming, walking and low resistance cycling on an exercise bike are great exercises to keep up your strength and power whilst you're recovering, but please consult your therapist first! :-)

Don't give up - there is still plenty for you to do! 🏊🏻🙌🏻
