A lovely morning spent painting pottery at Honeypot Ceramics in South Queensferry 🎨🌿

Such a gorgeous spot for a bit of gentle, mindful creating β€” relaxed atmosphere, lovely sea views, fab cake and coffee, and really friendly staff.

I spent the morning surrounded by paints, palettes and nasturtiums, decorating my own little vase inspired by their tumbling leaves and bright summer flowers. 🌼

Definitely one to recommend if you fancy switching off for a while and enjoying some creative time in a beautiful setting.

Now I just have to wait patiently to see how my Nasturtium vase turns out after firing! 🀞πŸ”₯

🌸 The gift that keeps on giving…

A gorgeous Petunia, gifted by me to my mum, flourishes in just the right conditions with her attentive care β€” rewarding her with an abundance of perfect trumpet blooms, shifting from soft peach to pink. 🌸

She photographs them and sends the pictures to me. I’m inspired by those beautiful colours to take out my watercolour pencils while on holiday, enjoy a mindful moment painting them… and then send the finished image back to her.

A plant gifted.
Nurtured and enjoyed.
A photograph shared.
A painting inspired.
And a little piece of creativity gifted back. πŸ’—

Circular giving β€” each of us adding something along the way.

Thank you, Mum, for nurturing my little gift so beautifully β€” and for sending a little inspiration back my way. πŸŒΈπŸ’•

Sometimes the loveliest creative inspiration is already growing around us. 🌿🎨

🎢🌍 Stamp to the Beat! 🎨

A big thank you to all the young artists and their parents and grandparents who came along to our Stamp to the Beat session at Blackhall Library today.

I loved seeing how everyone embraced our World Instruments theme. We listened to the distinctive sounds and rhythms of the bagpipes, bandura, koto, piano, sitar and djembe drum, using them as inspiration for our artwork.

We designed our own instrument-inspired printing plates, inked them up and stamped out our prints. It was brilliant to see how many different ideas emerged from the same theme – every piece completely unique to its young artist.

One of the things I especially enjoyed was designing the session to include different ways of accessing information and communicating. Alongside the music and art, we explored BSL fingerspelling, Braille, audio links and dyslexia-friendly visual resources, weaving these naturally into the creative experience and offering different ways to explore and participate.

And, of course, everyone got to head home with a little bundle of creativity: their own unique printed artwork, a Stamp to the Beat bookmark and a World Instruments colouring sheet – hopefully inspiring a little more creating, listening and exploring at home. πŸŽ΅πŸ–οΈ

A huge thank you to Blackhall Library for inviting me to deliver the workshop. It was particularly lovely to have the opportunity to connect and create with children and families in my own local community. πŸ’›

Thank you to everyone who joined in, experimented, got a little inky and made it such an enjoyable shared experience!

πŸ’œ A little piece of Provence... right here in Scotland. πŸ’œ

Today's Lavender Fields Painting Visit was simply magical.

The lavender was in full purple blaze, framed by vibrant ribbons of wildflowers in sunshine yellows, cornflower blues and soft lilac fiddle-neck blooms. Beyond the fields, rolling green hills and majestic Scots pines completed a landscape that seemed to become more beautiful with every step.

Together we paused to take in the colours, breathe in the wonderful fragrance of the lavender and distil those moments onto the painted page. Along the way we also enjoyed learning more about Scottish Lavender Oils, from the growing of the lavender to the fascinating traditional copper distilling process.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined me today. It was such a joy to share this mindful creative experience with you, and I hope you returned home feeling refreshed, inspired and with wonderful memories of a very special summer morning.

A special thank you also to the amazing team at Tarhill Farm for your warm welcome and for creating such a unique place to visit here in Scotland.

If you're looking for somewhere special to visit this summer, I can wholeheartedly recommend a trip to the Scottish Lavender Fields at Tarhill Farm. Wander through the beautiful blooms, discover how their wonderful lavender products are made, and take time to soak up one of Scotland's most colourful seasonal landscapes. It's a place that will stay with you long after you've left.

Here's to slowing down, noticing the beauty around us and finding our flow. πŸ’œ

🌸 Cut Flower Joy – Something for the Weekend 🌸

Today's flowery treats..

July is a time of abundance in the cut flower garden, bringing wonderful opportunities to spread a little flowery love throughout my local community.

A thank you. A get well soon. Welcome home. A job well done. Or simply, I see you. I appreciate you. I care about you.

Giving flowers really is one of life's simplest remedies – a beautiful pick-me-up, a way to connect, and a reminder that someone is thinking of you.

This is the first of five bespoke bouquets I've created this week, crafted with over 250 stems gathered from the garden.

The deliciously scented sweet peas are making their long-awaited July debut in delicate ombrΓ© shades from creamy white through to soft lavender blues. Lacy Ammi majus umbels add lightness and movement, while the final purple spikes of toadflax bring height and a relaxed, cottage-garden feel. Fresh green aster sprigs and foraged fern fronds weave everything together into one joyful arrangement.

Other arrangements- Cornflower Blue, Pretty Pink H**e, last of Hyperculum Berries.

Every stem has been grown, gathered and arranged with care, and I hope this bouquet brings a smile to someone special today. πŸ’πŸ˜Š

Happy growing and creating,

Fiona x
