Our Gruffalo themed Summer Explorers group had so much fun last week! 🦉🐭

We brought the story to life with puppets and a real woodland treasure tray, exploring leaves, moss and hay just like Mouse in the deep dark wood. Visual language boards helped every child join in the storytelling, answering who, what and doing questions about the Gruffalo’s woodland friends.

Little explorers then followed Gruffalo steps into a den in the deep dark wood, on a sensory treasure hunt to find something rough, smooth, prickly and bendy. And there was still time to get creative, decorating their own snake, fox and Gruffalo with gems and googly eyes, plus fine motor peg sorting, messy sensory bins and play dough snakes to round out a brilliant week.

🦇 We had a very special visitor at the therapy centre this morning… Batman! 💙

And that’s exactly why we created this space.

When we designed our therapy centre, we didn’t just want somewhere for children to come for therapy or assessments. We wanted to create a place where every child feels safe to be completely themselves.

Whether they arrive dressed as Batman, a princess, a dinosaur, a superhero, or in their favourite comfy clothes or pyjamas, they’re always welcome exactly as they are.

Because for us, therapy isn’t about fitting in. It’s about creating an environment where children feel valued, understood and comfortable enough to show us who they really are.

Sometimes the best conversations happen behind a cape. 🦇✨

We’re so proud that our therapy centre is becoming a place where children know they can belong, explore, communicate and play in ways that feel right for them.

Last few spaces left for next week’s Summer Explorers groups!

Next week we’re diving into two brand new themes: Under the Sea and Bear Hunt, both brought to life through puppets, songs, sensory play and lots of shared giggles

These sessions are for children who are early communicators, who use a few words or phrases, who love sensory exploration, and who’d benefit from a small, supportive group. Your child doesn’t need a diagnosis to join us.

Every session is led throughout by our Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists, in a calm, welcoming space designed for children to explore, connect and be themselves.

Sessions run 10am to 12pm - drop and go!

Once next week’s spaces are gone, they’re gone.

Our sensory space is all set up and ready for today’s adventures! 🌈💙

From climbing and balancing to swinging, rolling and exploring, every piece of equipment has a purpose, helping children build strength, coordination, confidence and self-regulation through play. 💪🧩

We can’t wait to welcome today’s children in for another fun-filled session! Who wouldn’t want to spend their morning here? 😍

It’s amazing to see everything coming together at our Swithland HQ, and we can’t wait to welcome even more children and families into this beautiful new space. 💛

Looking for a fun way to help your child build confidence, communication and friendships over the summer holidays?

At Speakeasy Therapy, we’ve created a range of therapist-led Summer Interest Groups where children can learn, play and connect through the things they love most! 💙

💜 From unexpected beginnings to a placement we’ll never forget… 💜

Just 3 weeks before Jess was due to start her university placement, it unexpectedly fell through. We were so pleased that we could step in, and what a privilege it has been to have her as part of the Speakeasy Therapy team over the past 8 weeks.

From getting involved in assessments and projects, to learning alongside our therapists and embracing every opportunity with enthusiasm, Jess has been an absolute pleasure to have with us. Her positivity, kindness and willingness to learn have shone through every single day.

We’re so grateful we were able to be part of your journey, Jess, and we’re incredibly proud of everything you’ve achieved during your time with us.

We wish you every success in the future – we know you’ll go on to do amazing things, and wherever your career takes you, you’ll always be welcome at Speakeasy. 💜✨

💜 At Speakeasy Therapy, we work with children and families affected by Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) every day. We also provide training to schools and nurseries to help professionals better understand and support children with DLD.

That’s why we’re proud to reshare this excellent post from Speech and Language UK.

DLD affects around 2 in every 30 children, yet awareness remains surprisingly low. By sharing information like this, we can help more people recognise the signs, improve understanding, and ensure children receive the support they need as early as possible.
