What a wonderful afternoon at Appleby House!

Yesterday we celebrated our Taste of Home BBQ with delicious food, sunshine, music and lots of smiles.

Families joined their loved ones for a colourful afternoon of fun, with children’s games and fantastic live entertainment from our lovely regular Malindi from MACK Entertainment. Residents were singing, dancing and making the most of the beautiful weather!

A truly lovely day of food, family and togetherness. 💛

Creativity is thriving at Appleby House!

At Appleby House, we’re incredibly proud of our award-winning arts programme, and we’re delighted to welcome the wonderful Emily Chilvers, who now visits us every two weeks to lead our pottery sessions.

Our residents have been creating beautiful bowls and coasters using lavender, flowers and leaves to bring the beauty of the outdoors into their artwork. As well as being great fun, pottery encourages creativity, supports dexterity and coordination, and provides a wonderfully calming and mindful experience.

A huge thank you to Emily for sharing her talent and inspiring our residents. We can’t wait to see what we’ll create together next!

What perfect weather we had today! We made the most of it by spending the whole day in the garden.
Our morning was filled with painting, puzzles and plenty of friendly chatter over coffee and cakes. In the afternoon, we enjoyed a lovely Poetry Corner session, sharing some of our favourite poems before creating our very own poem inspired by childhood memories of summertime.
A truly wonderful day of sunshine, creativity and happy memories!

Our residents have been thoroughly enjoying all the excitement of the World Cup and have been proudly cheering on the England team.
There has been a wonderful atmosphere as everyone comes together to watch the matches, share memories, and enjoy the spirit of the game.

A special mention goes to John, who has a real passion for football and proudly played for many years as a semi-professional footballer, including for Chelsea’s Academy between 1954 and 1955. It has been lovely to see him enjoying the tournament and sharing his football memories with us!

Appleby House had a wonderful afternoon celebrating Pride, filled with colour, joy and togetherness!
Pride is a lovely reminder of the importance of kindness, acceptance and celebrating everyone for who they are.
Back by popular demand, the fantastic Terry Gleed joined us once again and delivered an afternoon full of fun, brilliant songs to sing along to, dancing and plenty of smiles.
A big thank you to Terry for bringing such wonderful energy to Appleby House, and as always, a great time was had by all!

Cooling down at Appleby House!
