Did you know poor sleep and blood sugar levels are closely connected? 🌙

Changes in blood sugar levels during the night can keep you awake, increase thirst and lead to more trips to the bathroom. And when you've had a poor night's sleep, managing blood sugar levels the next day can feel more difficult.

Small habits can help break the cycle. Creating a relaxing sleep environment, limiting screens and alcohol before bed, staying active during the day and eating a balanced diet can all support better sleep.

If you're struggling with sleep and diabetes, speaking to a healthcare professional can help you find the right support for you.

Better sleep doesn't just help you feel more rested, it can be an important part of managing your diabetes too. 💙

Anyone else feeling more tired than usual lately? 🙋

The darker days could be playing a part.
Your body clock relies on daylight to help regulate when you feel awake and when you feel sleepy. Right now, many of us are getting less natural light and more screen time, which isn’t always a great combination for good sleep.

As the evenings get darker, it’s natural to spend more time indoors. But bright screens can send your brain mixed signals, making it harder to switch off when bedtime comes around.

A few small habits can help support your body clock:
☀️ Get outside in daylight where you can
💡 Keep lights lower in the evening
📱 Try putting screens away before bed

There was music, smiles, and plenty of toe-tapping this afternoon as Darius treated our residents to another fantastic violin performance! 🎻✨

His rendition of "If I Were a Rich Man" from Fiddler on the Roof was a particular favourite and had everyone thoroughly entertained.

We are incredibly lucky to have such a gifted and professional musician perform for us. Thank you, Darius, for making our day so special!

🎉 Happy 90th Birthday, Pauline! 🎉

Last week we had the pleasure of celebrating Pauline’s very special 90th birthday. Her thoughtful daughters, along with Pauline, kindly treated everyone to delicious chocolate gifts and beautiful balloons that brightened our dining room and made the day feel extra special.

Although Pauline chose to celebrate quietly in her room, we brought the party to her with a lovely birthday cake, a heartfelt rendition of Happy Birthday, and a surprise video of residents and team members singing just for her. 💖

Thank you, Pauline, for letting us be part of your special day. We hope you felt surrounded by love and joy. Wishing you a wonderful year ahead!

🏃 School runs. 📚 Homework. 🤧 Sick days.

When life gets busy, it's easy for parents' own health to slip down the priority list.

So where does your health sit compared to your children's?

We took to the streets to ask parents exactly that, inviting them to place themselves on a scale and share their thoughts. The responses might feel familiar 👀

Because while caring for your family is important, looking after your own physical and mental wellbeing matters too 💙

Everybody's experience of the menopause is different, and everyones experience is valid. Victoria is here to remind us that whilst it might be a challenge, the menopause shouldn't be something to be afraid of. We are wiser, stronger, and more capable because of our experiences, not in spite of them. 💙

A little moment of calm and comfort with Louis! 🐶

This week, we were delighted to welcome our lovely therapy dog Louis and his wonderful owner Lauren to our home. 🥰

Sometimes, it’s the simplest moments that bring the biggest smiles, and this beautiful moment of Louis relaxing on the carpet amongst our residents says it all!

What is perimenopause? It's the stage before menopause, when your hormone levels start to change.

You might still be having periods, but your body could already be going through changes that affect your physical and mental wellbeing.

Symptoms can vary from person to person. Some people experience hot flushes, sleep problems and changes to their periods, while others notice mood changes, difficulty concentrating or what's often called 'brain fog'.

You can still get pregnant during perimenopause, so it's important to keep using contraception until your GP says it's safe to stop.

There are ways to manage symptoms too. Regular exercise, a balanced diet and finding ways to reduce stress can all help. If symptoms are affecting your daily life, treatments and support are available.

Remember: your periods don't need to have stopped for you to get help. 💙

What’s the best exercise to do during menopause? The answer isn’t just one thing.

Mixing up how you move can help support different parts of your health during menopause.

Cardio, like walking, cycling, swimming or dancing, gets your heart working.

Strength training, from squats and planks to lifting weights, can help build muscle and keep your bones strong

Yoga, Pilates and tai chi are great ways to work on balance and mobility.

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach. Find movement you enjoy, mix things up and build a routine that works for you. 💙

On Saturday, we enjoyed a fantastic family and resident event with our very own talented colleague, Ciro, who hosted a wonderful Cannoli Making session!

As always, it was an informative, engaging, and highly enjoyable experience for everyone involved. Residents and families loved learning about the traditional art of cannoli making, and of course, tasting the delicious results!

A huge thank you to Ciro for sharing his skills, passion, and knowledge with us. It was a truly memorable afternoon filled with fun, learning, and lots of smiles.

What you sent: a funny meme.
What you meant: "I'm having a tough time."

For many of us, humour feels easier than honesty. Over 50% of adults say they're fine when they're not. 34% hold back because they don't want to worry the people they love, while nearly a third stay silent because they don't want to feel like a burden.

That's why it's worth paying attention to the messages behind the messages.

A lovely morning spent at Garson’s Garden Centre, and of course, the best part the café!
We treated ourselves to a luxurious hot chocolate and a delicious slice of chocolate cake. What better way to start the day and enjoy a beautiful summer morning with friends.

Ever sent a meme, funny video or random Reel that was actually saying a lot more than it seemed? 💬

Sometimes it's easier to send a joke than admit how we're really feeling. But according to Bupa's research, 51% of adults say they're "fine" when they're not. 34% stay quiet because they don't want to worry the people they love, and 30% don't speak up because they don't want to feel like a burden.

Sometimes the things we share say more than the things we don't.
