Low back pain is complicated.
You cannot completely prevent it. We are all complex machines living stressful, busy lives.
But there are risk factors we CAN improve - keep reading.
1ļøā£ Stop avoiding movement
Your spine is designed to move. Bending, lifting, rotating and being active are normal human movements. Avoiding movement completely often makes you weaker, stiffer and more sensitive in certain positions.
2ļøā£ Exercise regularly
Movement is medicine. Walking, running, swimming, cycling, Pilates, strength training, it all helps. Your body responds well to variation and consistency. Aim for 45ā60 minutes of movement most days.
3ļøā£ Improve your sleep
Scrolling on your phone until midnight is not helping your recovery. Poor sleep affects pain, recovery, stress levels and energy. Build a better evening routine and give your body time to recover.
4ļøā£ Manage stress and anxiety
Your nervous system is running 24/7. High stress levels can increase muscle tension, pain sensitivity and fatigue. Diaphragmatic Breathing exercises, exercise, time outdoors and slowing down can genuinely help calm the system.
5ļøā£ Stop smoking and clean up your nutrition
Processed foods
Smoking and poor nutrition negatively impact recovery, inflammation, energy levels and overall health. Your body works better when you fuel it properly.
Low back pain is rarely caused by one single thing. Usually it is a combination of lifestyle, stress, recovery, movement habits and overall health.
