Today we had the opportunity to present to ADP Dumfries and Galloway our ideas for supporting and sustaining a Lived Experience Panel across the region.

The discussion focused on how we can move beyond consultation and create meaningful opportunities for people with lived and living experience to influence services, shape strategy, and drive positive change within the local recovery system.

Our proposal centres on creating a supported, trauma-informed, and well-facilitated panel that not only amplifies voices but also invests in people through training, development, peer support, and progression opportunities. We believe that lived experience should be valued as expertise, with people supported to contribute confidently and safely while helping to improve outcomes for others.

A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to listen, engage, and contribute to the conversation. We look forward to continuing discussions and exploring how we can work together to build a sustainable model that genuinely embeds lived experience at the heart of decision-making across Dumfries & Galloway.

Bobbie Lawson didn't set out to lead one of Dundee's most vital support services. Starting in community outreach and working her way up as a recovery worker, she was quietly convinced otherwise. Over recent years, she has transformed what WithYou in Dundee looks like.

When she became Service Manager, the Covid years had left the team uncertain of their direction. Bobbie hit reset, building a flexible, person-centred pathway that meets people exactly where they are.

"We're not taking anybody's hopes and dreams off the table. We're just saying, let's get you to the right place first."

The results speak for themselves. Referrals rose from 367 to 507 in a single year, and average wait times dropped from 12 days to under 7.

For Bobbie, it always comes back to people: her team, the families they serve, and the communities they support. πŸ’™
