💙 OUR STORY 💙

For those who may be new to Bridgewater Day Care, we thought we'd share a little about who we are and what we're all about.

Since opening our doors in 2014, Bridgewater Day Care has proudly provided a warm, welcoming "home away from home" for older people and those living with dementia in Golborne and the surrounding communities.

We were founded in response to a growing need for specialist day care services for older adults and people experiencing memory loss.

Our aim has always been simple: to provide a safe, stimulating and supportive environment where people can enjoy companionship, maintain independence, take part in meaningful activities, and continue to live life to the fullest.

At the same time, we understand the challenges faced by family carers. That's why providing respite, reassurance and support to families has always been at the heart of everything we do.

Over the last decade, we have been privileged to support more than 440 clients and provide over 250,000 hours of care. We have grown from supporting just a handful of local people to becoming a valued community hub for families across the region.

Some of the achievements we are especially proud of include:

None of this would have been possible without our incredible clients, families, dedicated staff team and community supporters.

🌟 A Day at Bridgewater Day Care 🌟

Have you ever wondered what a typical day at Bridgewater Day Care looks like? Here's a glimpse into the warm, friendly, and enjoyable days our members share together.

🚐 Arriving at Day Care
The day begins with a warm welcome. Some of our members arrive on our council transport service, while others are brought in by family members or carers. Whatever the journey, there's always a friendly face waiting at the door. ❤️

☕ Morning Refreshments & Catch-Ups
We start the day with tea, coffee, and light refreshments while everyone settles in, chats with friends, and catches up on the latest news.

🎵 Sing-Along & Armchair Exercises
To get us moving and smiling, we enjoy a lively sing-along followed by gentle armchair exercises. It's a great way to boost wellbeing, improve mobility, and start the day with plenty of energy.

🎨 Morning Activity Groups
There's something for everyone at Bridgewater. Members can choose from a variety of activities including:

Arts and Crafts
Dominoes Group
Knitting Group
Reading Group
Sensory Activities

These sessions encourage creativity, stimulate memories, build confidence, and provide opportunities to socialise.

🍽️ A Delicious Two-Course Lunch
At lunchtime, everyone comes together to enjoy a freshly prepared two-course meal, with plenty of conversation and laughter around the tables.

🎶 Afternoon Entertainment & Activities
The fun continues in the afternoon with a range of engaging activities. We might welcome a live band for music and dancing, enjoy a game of bingo, celebrate special occasions, or take part in seasonal activities and quizzes.

Happy 25th Birthday, Ellie 🤍

Today, all of us are remembering a truly special young lady who will never be forgotten. Ellie was not only a valued member of our team, but a beautiful, caring, kind-hearted person who brought warmth and happiness to everyone around her.

Five years may have passed since we lost her, but her smile, her laughter, and the impact she had on all of us still remain every single day.

We feel incredibly lucky to have known and worked alongside her, and today we celebrate the wonderful person she was and always will be in our hearts.

Keeping Safe in the Warm Weather ☀️☀️☀️

As temperatures rise, it’s important that we all take extra care to stay cool, hydrated, and comfortable — especially for those living with dementia who may not always recognise when they are becoming too hot or thirsty.

Here are a few simple ways to stay safe during the warmer days:

💧 Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day🧢 Wear light clothing and a sun hat outdoors🏠 Keep rooms cool by closing curtains during peak sunshine🍓 Enjoy light meals and refreshing snacks like fruit🌳 Avoid being outside during the hottest part of the day👀 Check in regularly with loved ones, neighbours, and older relatives ❤️

At our centre, we will be making sure everyone stays comfortable with regular drinks, cool spaces, and gentle activities throughout the day.

Please remember — staying hydrated and cool can make a big difference to health and wellbeing during hot weather.
