"Blue Monday" is used to describe the third Monday in January, which is believed to be the most depressing day of the year.

The term was originally created by a travel agency in 2005 as part of a marketing campaign.

Sadly this can have a negative effective on people as consciously they think about the day and can talk themselves into feeling blue as they think that this is how they should be feeling.

Mental Health such as low mood and depression affects people everyday of the year and can't just be switched on and off as if attributed to a single day, like a marketing campaign.

If 1 day turns into a week, that turns into a month, that turns into several months, there is always help and support out there.

So this is your reminder to check in on your family and friends throughout the year, stay connected, listen, and be there for them.

𝗕𝗼𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀

Did you know that connecting with your friends and family can have a profound impact on your mental well-being?

Emotional Support: Having a strong support system can provide a shoulder to lean on during tough times. Sharing your thoughts and feelings with loved ones can offer comfort and understanding, helping to alleviate stress and anxiety.

Banish Loneliness: Regular social interactions can combat feelings of loneliness and isolation. Engaging in meaningful conversations and activities with your loved ones can create a sense of belonging and connection, boosting your overall happiness and well-being.

Stress Relief: Life can be overwhelming, but having a network of friends and family to rely on can help you navigate through challenging situations. Simply talking things out or seeking advice from trusted individuals can provide a fresh perspective and help alleviate stress.

Self-Esteem Boost: Positive relationships can contribute to a healthy sense of self-esteem. When you feel loved and supported by your loved ones, it can enhance your confidence and self-worth, leading to a more positive outlook on life. So, make it a priority to nurture your connections with friends and family. Reach out, plan activities together, and engage in meaningful conversations. Your mental health will thank you!

It's the weeeeekend!!

For a lot of us, we get that excitable feeling knowing we have two days off to do the things we want to do. However, for others the weekend can fill you with dread and makes you feel anxious for different reasons. Maybe you have lost a loved one so seeing people having fun with friends and family can make you feel sad and lonely? Maybe you are anxious to go out when it is busier in public places like parks and shopping centres.

Maybe you are going away and feel anxious about travelling on a plane or train?

Whatever the reason, if you feel anxious try this square breathing exercise to help regulate your breathing make you feel calm.

Sometimes we just need a little reminder not to be too hard on ourselves. We all have good bits and bad bits, but to often focus on the negative things. Focus on all the good things about yourself, remind yourself that you are GREAT and celebrate it!

Mindset is everything!

Mindset is a powerful emotional tool. It's the belief and attitude you hold towards yourself, your abilities, and your circumstances.

It is the understanding that our thoughts and beliefs can greatly influence our emotions, behaviours, and overall well-being.

A positive mindset can lead to increased resilience, motivation, and a greater sense of control over your life.

It can help individuals overcome challenges, embrace growth opportunities, and maintain a hopeful outlook.

A negative mindset can hinder personal growth, limit potential, and contribute to feelings of helplessness or pessimism.

Creating a positive mindset involves practicing self-awareness, challenging negative thoughts, and adopting a mindset of growth and possibility. It can have a profound impact on your mental health, relationships, and overall life satisfaction.

Daily reminders will help you to consciously check in on yourself to make sure you are ok.

If you are having "one of those days" your mental health daily reminder will help you prioritise your mental health to help you to get back on track and feel a bit better.

Just remember, it's ok not to be ok, and it's perfectly normal to feel different emotions; we all have good days and not so good days.

Never underestimate the importance of sleep.

A lack of sleep can make you suffer from low mood, struggle to concentrate, you can't be bothered to do anything as you feel tired and your body craves bad sugary foods, which also has a negative effect on your mental health.

A decent nights sleep allows your body and mind to rest making it easier to concentrate at school or at work. It also makes you feel refreshed and motivated and helps give you a positive outlook so you feel like you can confidently tackle anything in the day ahead.

However it's not always possible to get a good nights sleep if you are feeling anxious, worried or even excited! Here are a few tips to help you get a good nights rest:

💤 Turn off all electronic equipment such as mobile phones, gaming and laptops at least 2 hours before you go to bed

💤 Read a book a bedtime

💤 Listen to some calming music to help you unwind

💤 Get active - Having regular exercise is great to help you sleep

💤 Darkened room - Dimmed lights can make you feel sleepy and black out blinds or a dark blanket thrown over your curtains can help to darken your room.

💤 Avoid caffeine and sugary foods before bed
