💜 𝗔 𝗳𝗲𝘄 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝘀 𝗮𝗴𝗼, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝘂𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲’𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 …

At the age of 92, Olive was preparing to get her very first tattoo in memory of her beloved husband, Brian, and her cherished grandson, Niall, who was cared for by Alice House Hospice.

Well … she’s only gone and done it!

Olive has now had her beautiful angel wing tattoo and its beautiful.

What made the occasion even more special was that she was joined by her granddaughters, Leanne Laverick and Gemma Donnelly.

The tattoo is a deeply personal tribute to Brian and Niall, while Olive’s fundraising is helping to give something back to the Hospice that meant so much to her family.

We think Olive is absolutely amazing, and we’re so grateful to her, Leanne and Gemma for helping raise vital funds for Alice House Hospice 🥰

💜 An incredible £7,105 raised for Alice House Hospice 💜

A huge thank you to Leanne Laverick and Gemma Donnelly, who held a fantastic fundraising night on Saturday 8th August at Billingham Trade Union Club, in loving memory of their cousin, Niall Lyons.

Niall was recently cared for at Alice House Hospice, and we are incredibly grateful that Leanne and Gemma chose to honour him by raising funds to support the vital care we provide to local patients and their families.

Thanks to everyone who attended, donated, supported and helped make the evening such a wonderful success. To raise an incredible £7,105 is truly amazing and will make a real difference to Alice House Hospice.

It was great to catch up with Richardson and Westgarth Sports & Social Club FC who nominated us as their chosen charity.

Over the 2025/2026 season, they raised a whopping £1,400 after hosting a collection of fundraising events such as a Charity Darts Night and football cards!

We wish them all the best for the season ahead!

💜 A huge thank you to Boots Opticians Hartlepool 💜

We’d like to say a very special thank you to Boots Opticians Hartlepool for proudly sponsoring our Great North Run team once again! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Boots Opticians have been supporting our GNR team since 2018, and we’re incredibly grateful for their continued support of Alice House Hospice.

This year, we have an amazing team of 35 runners, including four Hospice staff members, all taking on the challenge and proudly wearing their Alice House Hospice vests featuring the Boots Opticians logo.

A big thank you to Currys for kindly giving us a 20% off voucher! 🙌

Thanks to their generosity, we were able to save £60 on a brand-new slush machine for our Day Hospice.

And with the sweltering temperatures we’ve had lately, it couldn’t have arrived at a better time! ☀️

It’s already proving to be a huge hit with our patients and staff - plenty of slushes all round! 🥤

Unfortunately, our Wynyard Road charity shop is closed today following a break-in last night.

The thieves stole our safe, which contained the previous day’s takings, as well as our shop computer and stock. They also caused thousands of pounds worth of damage to the shop.

We’re incredibly disappointed and saddened that this has happened. Our charity shops play a vital role in raising the funds needed to support local people living with life-limiting illnesses, and every pound really does make a difference.

As a result of the break-in, we’ve also lost a full day of trading today while we deal with the damage and get the shop back into a position to reopen. That’s another day of valuable income lost.

We’re working hard to get everything sorted and, all being well, we hope to reopen as normal tomorrow.

Thank you to our amazing customers for your continued support and understanding, and to our incredible staff and volunteers for their hard work in dealing with this unfortunate setback.
