Expecting a baby? Or supporting someone who is?

Our Group B Strep in pregnancy and babies leaflet is designed to help you understand the essentials - what group B Strep is, how to reduce the risk of infection, and what signs to look out for after birth.

Created by our charity in partnership with the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists RCOG and available in 15 languages, it’s a free resource we’re proud to offer ✨

📢 We’re really pleased to share the launch of a new medical textbook on group B Strep, co‑edited by Professor Philip Steer (Chair of GBSS's Clinical Advisory Panel) and our Chief Executive, Jane Plumb.

This is the first dedicated clinical textbook on group B Strep, bringing together evidence, practice and lived experience to support better care and prevention. âś…

Group B Streptococcus in Pregnancy, Childbirth and the Neonatal Period brings together expertise from across specialties and lived experience to provide a practical, evidence-based guide to prevention, diagnosis and management.

We realised there wasn’t a single place that brought all of this together - so we set out to create one.

We’re incredibly grateful to the experts, clinicians and families who contributed their knowledge, insight and experience to make this book possible. Your contributions will help shape care and understanding for years to come. 💕

We are the only UK charity offering a free group B Strep eLearning module for midwives, doctors and others working in maternity, neonatal and primary care ✨

The module answers the common questions expectant parents and families ask and covers the prevention, identification and treatment of group B Strep.

This knowledge helps ensure pregnant women and birthing people can make informed choices.

We're delighted to announce that our annual virtual GBS in Pregnancy and Babies Conference was a huge success .

With the GBS3 trial results expected later this year, this year’s conference came at a key moment for the group B Strep community, bringing together over 500 healthcare professionals, researchers, policy makers and advocates to share knowledge, ask question and strengthen informed conversations as we look ahead ▶️

Across the day, we heard powerful lived experiences alongside expert insights on prevention, care and the latest research shaping the future. It was a valuable opportunity to reflect, learn and connect. Early feedback has been incredibly positive, with the vast majority of attendees saying they would recommend the event and would attend again (the next one will be on 19 May 2027).

A huge thank you to our speakers, attendees, sponsors and everyone involved in making the day possible. We couldn’t have done it without you.

Last month, Sally ran the London Marathon in memory of her beautiful daughter, Elsie.

When Elsie was just three days old, she became seriously ill and spent five nights in intensive care. Tragically, Elsie died as a result of group B Strep meningitis and sepsis.

Sally chose to run for Group B Strep Support to honour Elsie and help other families by raising awareness.

🩵 “Running the London Marathon is my way of remembering Elsie, while supporting a charity that means so much to our family” Sally shared.

đź’™ Thank you, Sally, for raising an incredible ÂŁ3,942.

Thinking about running the London Marathon 2027 for GBSS? Applications for a charity place close this weekend (Sunday 31 May at midnight).
