For many of us, our pets are so much more than just animals – they are part of the family. They share our homes, our routines, our happiest moments and, often, provide quiet comfort when life is difficult.

And, of course, we are just as important to them. The bond between a person and their pet can be incredibly special, built on love, companionship, trust and loyalty.

That is why we always think it is so lovely to see pets included in a funeral or memorial service. For some families, having a much-loved dog or other pet present feels entirely natural – after all, they have been such an important part of their loved one’s life too.

Whether quietly sitting alongside the family or simply being there to offer their familiar comfort, their presence can bring a little warmth and reassurance at an emotional time. 🐾❤️

Because sometimes, family comes with four legs and a tail.

What a lovely day with Bowls Club for the Heathfield Funeral Directors Sponsored Triples Day!

A big thank you to everyone at the club who worked so hard to make the day such a success. There was some great, and at times very competitive, bowls played in a fantastic atmosphere.

Congratulations to the winners and runners-up, and well done to everyone who took part. We were delighted to support such an enjoyable day!

At Heathfield Funeral Directors, we understand that choosing a funeral director is a deeply personal decision. Families need to know their loved one is in the hands of people they can trust.

Our support also continues long after the funeral, offering practical help, guidance and friendship, alongside bereavement coffee mornings, grief seminars, walk and talk groups and support for local sports clubs and organisations.

We are one of the major club Sponsors for Park Cricket Club . Why not go along and watch the 1st XI team play this Saturday at home against Seaford 1st XI? Social members are very welcome to join where you will get a chance to meet people and make new friends and be a part of a welcoming social community.

Experience, exceptional facilities and genuine care – before, during and long after the funeral. That is what sets Heathfield Funeral Directors apart.

Our community is very lucky to have the beautiful Wealden Crematorium right on our doorstep, with its peaceful grounds, memorial garden, community orchard, woodland and an abundance of wildflowers and wildlife.
This year’s Open Day is a great opportunity to explore the facilities, take a guided tour and find out more about what happens behind the scenes. There will also be a fascinating series of talks from experts, covering topics including choosing an independent funeral director, navigating the bureaucracy of death, celebrating a life using technology, cremator technology and how metal recycling from cremations supports charities.
There will also be a talk exploring who takes care of a funeral when there is no family or money.
It can be reassuring to familiarise yourself with a place before the day of a funeral. Whether you may attend a service at Wealden Crematorium in the future or are simply curious to discover more, the Open Day is definitely worth a visit!

Century of Service servicing our community.
Year 2 from Cross in Hand Primary School recently took part in a special colouring competition hosted by us to celebrate our 100th year of serving our local community.
The competition celebrated our long-standing connection with Bateman's, the former home of Rudyard Kipling, author of The Jungle Book, and coincided with the National Year of Reading 2026.
The children created some wonderful jungle-themed artwork during their art lessons, showing great imagination and creativity. Every child received a certificate, all artwork will be displayed in the Heathfield office window for all to enjoy and the winning entries will also be exhibited at Bateman's during its Christmas celebrations. Winners were additionally awarded National Book Tokens and complimentary passes to Batemans for them and their families to see their artwork in place.
Our congratulations go to all of the children for their fantastic efforts. Please enjoy the winners.
Friends of Cross-in-Hand School
A huge congratulations to all the children at Cross in Hand CE Primary School for their fantastic entries in our Centenary Colouring Competition. We were so impressed by the creativity and enthusiasm shown by everyone who took part. 🎨📚
