💙 What is a Sitting Visit? 💙

It's a question we're often asked.

Many people think a sitting visit is simply someone coming in to keep a loved one company. While companionship is a big part of it, it can be so much more.

It might be a chat over a cup of tea, help preparing lunch, support with personal care, medication prompts, or simply having someone there for reassurance and support.

For family members, sitting visits can also provide the opportunity to pop out, attend appointments, catch up on jobs around the house, or just enjoy a little time to themselves, knowing their loved one is in safe hands.

Sometimes it's the practical support that helps most. Sometimes it's the company. Often, it's a bit of both.

Hi everyone, I’m Emilie - Deputy Manager at Proper Care and the face behind our page 👋
Today I’m out in uniform supporting the team. While I’m usually office-based, I think it’s really important to keep my foot in and stay connected to the day-to-day care side of the role.
After 16 years working in care across many different sectors, I’ve seen how much of a difference it makes when managers stay hands-on, support their staff, and build relationships with service users.
For me, it’s about making sure our service users know my face, our team feels supported, and that I never lose sight of what care is really about.
Proud to be part of such a dedicated team and always proud to wear the Proper Care uniform 💙

🌟 Jo 🌟
Jo joined the Proper Care team in September 2025, and honestly, it’s clear she’s found her calling in care 💜 From the very beginning, she’s shown such natural compassion, patience, and kindness with the people she supports - and it definitely hasn’t gone unnoticed.

We genuinely don’t think a week has gone by without a service user or family member getting in touch to tell us how brilliant Jo is ✨ Her calm nature, caring attitude, and ability to make people feel comfortable, valued, and supported make such a difference every single day.😊

Jo is incredibly laid back, easy-going, and fits into the Proper Care family perfectly. She’s always happy to help, gets stuck in wherever needed, and brings such a lovely, positive energy to the team.

📚 We’re so excited to support Jo as she continues to grow in her role, and we can’t wait to get her started on her NVQs and see where her journey in care takes her!

When she’s not out caring for others, Jo enjoys winding down with a good book 📚, spending time socialising with friends and family 🥂, and simply enjoying life. She also used to be a keen darts player 🎯 - so if there’s ever a Proper Care darts tournament, we know who our money’s on! 😉
