There have been lots of changes happening at Springkell House over the past 18 months, and we have been hard at work renovating the upper floor bedrooms, so our residents have fresh, welcoming spaces of their own to enjoy. 🛏️

Each room has been redecorated, with new carpets and doors helping to create bright, comfortable spaces that are ready for residents to enjoy. In addition to bedroom renovations, all of the top floor hallways have also been given a makeover with fresh paint and new décor. It has been lovely to see how much our residents enjoy the brighter, refreshed spaces in the home.

Most recently, we have started to take delivery of some lovely new armchairs which look fantastic in residents’ bedrooms. This is the start of our new project to replace the furniture in bedrooms throughout the home with upgraded pieces. We will refresh a few rooms at a time to reduce any disruption, but we are looking forward to the overall transformation that all residents will be able to enjoy.

We want our residents to immediately feel at ease when they arrive at Springkell House, and that begins with a private space of their own. Little touches like calming colours and coordinating soft furnishings help to create a warm, relaxing space. We want every bedroom to feel welcoming as soon as you step through the door, ready for residents to make their own and fill with their treasured possessions.

If you would like to arrange a tour of one of our newly decorated rooms, or to find out more about our future plans for Springkell House, please get in touch with us on 📞 01428 605 509 or email 📧 [email protected]

Another very special celebration at Springkell House as one of our residents enjoyed their birthday surrounded by family and friends. 🥳🎂🎈

We had a wonderful day helping our lovely resident celebrate her birthday at the home, with a delicious homemade cake, presents, and lots of smiles (and even a few happy tears)! We always do whatever we can to make sure our residents have a great birthday, and seeing them enjoy their day with their loved ones is heartwarming.

Thank you to this lovely family for letting us be a part of this special family event and for sharing your celebration with all of us at Springkell House. 🎂 🎉

Let’s celebrate one of our residents’ favourite pastimes and pop the kettle on for Afternoon Tea Week! 🫖

☕️ We love to host an afternoon tea at our Beritaz Care homes. Whether it’s in celebration of a special occasion, or simply a great excuse for a get-together on a quiet afternoon, an afternoon tea is one of our residents’ favourite ways to socialise. Within our homes, we aim to create a feeling of companionship and community, and through social events like an afternoon tea, we can help our residents to get to know each other, find common interests, and feel more comfortable and content within our homes.

🥳 During this glorious summer weather, we have hosted several outdoor afternoon teas and garden parties, bringing together our residents, their family members, and friends of the homes for some delicious refreshments prepared by our brilliant kitchen teams. It has been the perfect way to celebrate the summer season with our home’s communities.

👩🏻‍🍳 Some of our residents have even lent a hand in baking up some delicious treats for our afternoon teas. Members of the Robertson Nursing Home cooking club have made some wonderful cakes and bakes for their fellow residents to enjoy with their afternoon tea. They enjoy both the process of baking the sweet treats and having a good chat while they taste the end result.

🚌 Our residents also love taking a trip on our minibus to visit a local café to enjoy their afternoon tea. There are some wonderful small businesses and landmarks near our homes, and we always enjoy taking our residents to explore all of the lovely places in the local area.

Whether they are enjoying a full afternoon tea spread, complete with cakes, scones, sandwiches, and freshly brewed tea, or a simple cup of tea with a slice of cake, an afternoon tea is one of our residents’ favourite occasions.

Our dining room makeover is now complete, and we celebrated the beautiful new space with a grand opening for our residents and staff. 🥳

As it is such an important space in the home, where our residents gather to enjoy their meals and take part in celebrations, we wanted to make sure our dining room is a welcoming, cheerful space for our residents to enjoy spending time in.

We carefully planned the new décor for the dining room, picking calming colours and complementary touches of floral and lemon décor, all inspired by the Mediterranean. 🍋 The room is designed to take our residents on a walk down memory lane, bringing back fond memories of family holidays and celebrations with their loved ones.

Earlier this week, we held a grand opening of our beautiful dining room, where our chef cut the ribbon and welcomed everyone into the new and improved room. Residents sat to enjoy the new space with a refreshing cold beer or glass of sparkling wine.

We are delighted with all the positive remarks we have already received from the residents, who seem very happy with the new space. We are looking forward to enjoying many meals, celebrations and events together in the lovely new dining room.

Today is International Friendship Day 💕 so we are celebrating the beautiful friendships we have seen flourish between our residents.

Friendship is so important, and nowhere more so than within our homes and the community we have built at Beritaz Care. One of the things many of our residents are looking for when they move into our homes is companionship, some having struggled with loneliness or meeting people, so having the chance to form friendships within the home is something that makes a big difference to their lives.

Our regular social events and celebrations give our residents plenty of opportunities to get to know each other and make new friends. Our resident clubs are a particularly great way to meet people with shared interests; our homes host a variety of clubs from poetry clubs to cooking clubs, and even a men’s club at Robertson Nursing Home. These are a great way to bring together people with similar interests to share their favourite hobbies together and discover things they have in common.

Our residents have also formed some surprising friendships within the wider community. Through relationships with local schools and colleges and working with the Adopt-a-Grandparent scheme, we have seen our residents gain a great deal from intergenerational friendships.

We have also been moved to see the friendships that develop between residents and staff. The team members in our homes truly care about every resident and, through getting to know them, often form close bonds which give our residents a great sense of comfort, knowing they are being cared for by someone they trust.

Within our homes, we have been privileged to see so many amazing friendships form. Watching people from different places, generations, cultures, and backgrounds share their experiences and form connections that have had such a positive impact on their lives. Today we are celebrating all friendships, however they look, that bring happiness and connection to our residents and our homes.

This weekend, we hosted a summer party for our residents and their families and friends at Springkell House. ☀️🍔🥳

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Saturday for our annual summer event. It was wonderful to see so many people join us to celebrate and to see our residents having fun with their loved ones.

We were thrilled to welcome Kevin Jacot to provide musical entertainment for our party guests, his beautiful music helped to create a lovely relaxed atmosphere for the event. Kevin is a long-time friend of the home and has been delighting our residents with his musical talents for more than 10 years! 🎶🎻

The sun was shining, so we were able to host our party guests in the garden at the home. Our kitchen team created a fabulous spread of fresh and delicious party food, which looked (and tasted) amazing. 🍓🍰🥙

It was a lovely afternoon and a wonderful opportunity to bring together the Springkell House community. Thank you to our team who worked so hard to put on this brilliant event and made sure our residents and guests had a fantastic time!

With all the lovely weather these past few weeks, we are all feeling very summery at Springkell House. ☀️ So, the recent visit from The Entertainment Providers for a performance of their summer show was the perfect seasonal entertainment for our residents.

Everyone had a lot of fun watching the summer show, which featured stories, jokes, music, and lots of chances to sing-along. The Entertainment Providers never fail to put on a fantastic performance that really engages and entertains the residents. There were some lovely interactions between residents and the performer during the show. 🎶

What a fun afternoon spent enjoying some fantastic summer entertainment.

Summer at Beritaz Care has been filled with fun activities, celebrations and outdoor adventures for the residents of our homes. We have been making the most of the sunshine to get out in the garden and explore the local area, while making time for some of our residents’ favourite indoor activities and some special celebrations.

Over the past few months, our residents have enjoyed:

🌷 Spending time in the garden and tending to the spring blooms.
♟️ Taking some time for quiet one-to-one activities with our staff members.
👒 Celebrating crazy hat day and crazy socks day with their own creative outfits.
🏀 Staying fit and active while having fun in armchair exercise sessions.
🌳 Going for shaded walks in the local forest on sunny days.
🇬🇧 Commemorating VE Day and D-Day with themed events and activities.
☕️ Coming together for afternoon tea and having a good natter.
🐶 Welcoming some furry friends to the home for animal therapy.
🪴 Visiting the garden centre to get inspiration for our own summer planting.
🧩 Spending a cosy afternoon playing games or doing puzzles with friends
🎨 Showing off their artistic skills and trying out some new crafts.
🎂 Celebrating some very special birthdays together.

We have plenty more to look forward to as the summer continues, and we can’t wait to enjoy the season with our residents and their families.

July is Good Care Month, a time to celebrate the brilliant team members who help us deliver good care in our homes, and a chance to reflect on what good care means to us.

For all of us at Beritaz Care, good care is about supporting physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing through one holistic, person-centred approach. It means getting to know each resident as an individual and supporting them to live a full life, enjoying their favourite hobbies, making new friends, maintaining a sense of independence, and continuing to do the things that bring them joy.
