🔥Wild Fires🔥

Everywhere around us,
Fire rages
The land is like tinder
People coming out of their cages.
Searching for freedom
Drawn to the hills
Bottles and rubbish
And BBQ grills.

It breaks my heart
To see the trees,
Burned and dying
Sparks carried
By breeze
Animals running,
With no where to go
Birds flying high
Driven from homes.

I cant understand
The mentality
Of those
Who don’t know
Or don’t care
How fire will grow.
The Sun has taken
away common sense
Human intoxicated
Selfishness.

Put on your blinkers
In the name of
good fun
Share it on TiK Tok
Check the likes
You have won.
Eat up your burgers
Drink up your w**e.
It’s all ok,
You’ve had
A good time.

I wonder though
When you see
All the mess.
Of your country side party
Your self-centeredness
Do you feel any guilt
Do you feel any sorrow
Or is it a case of
Same thing tomorrow?

What happened
to picnics?
A sandwich or two,
A shared bag of crisps
A flask full of brew.
Respect for the land,
An offering made,
A small piece
of cake,
In gratitude laid.
