MMRV

We have sent out invitations today to all applicable children for the MMRV Catch-Up Vaccination.

Children who were born between 1st January 2020 and 31st August 2022 are being offered a single dose of MMRV vaccine to help protect them against chickenpox.

The MMRV protects against measles, mumps, rubella, and chickenpox. This is in addition to the two MMR vaccines your child will already have received.

Your child should have the MMRV vaccine if:

• they have not had chickenpox before

• they have not been vaccinated against chickenpox before (two doses)

If your child has had chickenpox, or been fully vaccinated against it, they will not benefit from this catch-up dose. If you are unsure, it is still safe for your child to have the vaccination.

We are holding catch-up clinics on the 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th November.

* Please note, you may receive your invitation via the NHS App, so please do check there if you feel your child should be included in this cohort but you have not received an SMS invitation.

Important Update: NHS App Messaging Rollout 📱

As part of a national NHS England rollout, our practice is adopting the new NHS Notify integration within our clinical system. This is a national initiative to modernise how the NHS communicates with patients—it is not something our practice has implemented independently.

What does this mean for you?
• Direct to your NHS App: Routine messages from the surgery (such as appointment reminders or health monitoring info) can now be sent securely straight to your NHS App inbox.
• Built-in safety fallback: If you don't use the NHS App, or if you don't open a message within 4 hours, the system automatically falls back to sending a standard text message (SMS) to your mobile number, ensuring you never miss important updates.
• Free and secure: Sending messages through the NHS App is completely free for the NHS and provides a secure way to stay in touch with your care team.

What you need to do: If you already have the NHS App, make sure your device notifications are turned on so you don't miss any updates!
If you don't use the app, you don't need to worry—you will simply continue to receive text messages as normal.
