Stroke symptoms can sometimes be a sign of other, less serious conditions, but never just assume everything will be alright.

A good test to assess if you or somebody you’re with is having a stroke is to BE FAST:

Balance, Eyes, Face, Arms, Speech, and Time to call 999.

Even if you’re unsure, it is always better to get help.

Anaphylaxis is a serious and often sudden allergic reaction that requires emergency treatment, when the body’s immune system wrongly identifies a food or substance as a threat. Symptoms of anaphylaxis include swelling in the upper airways, breathing difficulties and circulation problems.

On the initial suspicion of an allergy, a GP can sometimes refer you to a specialist allergy clinic for assessment and treatment, but in the case of any emergency, administer adrenaline if already prescribed, lie flat with your legs raised, and contact 999 immediately.

Hypoparathyroidism is a rare endocrine disorder where the parathyroid glands fail to produce enough parathyroid hormone, leading to low levels of calcium. Though the condition is rare, it is also unpredictable, and key warning signs can include brain fog, severe fatigue, muscle cramps, or a tingling or burning sensation in the fingertips, toes and lips.

Sexual exploitation could be a sign of modern slavery.

It’s important that we all look out for each other and both our mental and physical health, so if you have any concerns about yourself, a loved one or a neighbour, reaching out to the Modern Slavery Helpline or 101 could make all the difference. 🧡

You have a right to receive services and collect medicines that have been prescribed to you from any pharmacy you choose. With the Electronic Prescription Service, you decide which dispenser will receive your electronic prescriptions.

This choice should not be influenced or limited by apps, webpages, emails or letters you receive in the post, or by any doctor or pharmacist.

As a patient, you must be fully informed about EPS before your nomination can be set on the system. Nomination is suitable for most patients, and patients on regular repeats and who use the same pharmacy most of the time will see the most benefit.
