Presence Holistics

Presence Holistics Holistic Therapy at Presence Sir Walter Scott described Kelso as "the most beautiful, if not the most romatic village in Scotland."

I currently provide a range of Holistic therapies from my premises in the picturesque town of Kelso which lies at the junction of the Rivers Tweed and Teviot. Kelso remains one of the most attractive, unspoilt towns in the Borders with a Flemish-style cobbled square and a 12th century abbey. I feel privileged to be able to live and work in such a stunning part of the Scottish Borders and I am sure

you will agree Kelso is certainly worth the visit, not only for therapies I offer but for the wonderful scenery and warm welcome. Strictly by appointment only.

Happy Friday..

Happiness lives in three places:

✨ Letting go of what was
✨ Enjoying what is
✨ Trusting what will be

As you head into the weekend, give yourself permission to release, breathe, and be present. That's where the peace is.

Wishing you a wonderful, restorative Friday 💛

There’s a weird thing that can happen when you start doing well in your life.

The people who once encouraged you to dream big suddenly become uncomfortable when the dream starts becoming real.

This is known as tall poppy syndrome. It’s the tendency to criticize, resent, or cut people down when they become successful or stand out from the crowd.

There’s a Japanese saying that carries a similar idea: “The nail that sticks up gets hammered down.”

And I think a lot of us learn this lesson without anyone ever saying it out loud.

Don’t talk about your wins too much. Don’t seem too ambitious. Don’t get too confident. Don’t become too successful. Don’t shine so brightly that someone else starts questioning their own light.

I’ve noticed this particularly in conversations about ambition in the U.K. Sometimes success is celebrated, but sometimes there’s an instinct to immediately bring someone back down to earth.

And I understand some of where that comes from. When people are working hard and still struggling with the cost of living, stagnant wages, limited opportunities, or feeling like the system is stacked against them, someone else’s success can become an easy target for that frustration.

But someone else doing well isn’t necessarily evidence that you’re doing badly.

Growing up without much actually made me fascinated by people who created something extraordinary with their lives. When I saw someone succeed, my first thought wasn’t, “Who do they think they are?”

It was, “Wait… so this is possible?”

Their success expanded my imagination.

That’s why I think we should be careful about cutting down every tall poppy we see. Sometimes the person ahead of you isn’t there to make you feel behind. They’re showing you how far a human being can grow.

Of course, there’s an important distinction here.

Success doesn’t make someone immune from scrutiny.

If somebody has lied, exploited people, manipulated their way to the top, or behaved unethically, questioning how they got there isn’t jealousy. We shouldn’t dismiss legitimate criticism by saying, “They’re just haters.”

But there’s a difference between questioning someone’s methods and resenting their growth.

Between holding someone accountable and wanting them humbled simply because they dared to rise.

And if you’re the one rising, learn to recognize that difference too.

Listen when criticism contains truth. Stay humble. Keep your integrity. Make sure the person you’re becoming is someone you actually respect.

But don’t mistake every uncomfortable reaction for evidence that you need to become smaller.

You don’t expect a flower to stop blooming because the flowers beside it haven’t opened yet.

You don’t ask the sun to apologize because someone finds the light too bright.

And you shouldn’t have to suppress your gifts, ambition, joy, confidence, or success just to make yourself easier for other people to digest.

Some people will be inspired by your growth. Some will be challenged by it. Some may even resent it.

You cannot control which one they choose.

You can only make sure that as you rise, you rise with integrity.

So stay kind. Stay grounded. Celebrate other people when it’s their season. Let their evolution remind you of what’s possible in yours.

And when it’s finally your turn to bloom, don’t apologize for taking up the space you once prayed to grow into.

The answer to tall poppy syndrome isn’t to cut yourself down, but to create a world where more of us feel safe enough to grow tall.

I have been holding a simple, gentle thought in my heart this morning: When you focus on what is already here, your cup is always full.

It is so easy to spend our days constantly looking ahead—planning the next task or waiting for the weekend—comparing our current lives to where we feel we should be. We spend so much energy searching for what is missing, believing that true peace lives somewhere in tomorrow.

As I sat here today enjoying my first cup of tea before heading to the studio, a quiet wave of stillness washed over me. Wrapped in the warmth of the mug, I found myself reflecting on the simple treasures already present in this moment.

The steady rhythm of a deep, restoring breath. The quiet sanctuary of the morning. The fresh air outside. The reassuring knowledge that right now, I am safe, supported, and whole.

When we shift our awareness away from what feels absent and turn toward the quiet abundance surrounding us, scarcity gently evaporates. We realise that contentment was never waiting for us at a distant destination—it was resting right here all along.

As we move through this Thursday, I invite you to pause and take a slow, nourishing breath. Look around your space and feel the ground beneath your feet. What simple grace can you honour today?

Your cup does not need extraordinary moments to overflow; it is already full simply because you have chosen to notice the goodness right in front of you.

With love

🌿 Monday Flow 🌿

A new week, a fresh invitation to slow down and come back to yourself.

This week, we’re holding space for holistic facials, Usui Reiki, and reflexology — three gentle paths back to balance, each offering something a little different for whatever you’re carrying right now.

✨ Holistic facials nurture skin and spirit together, blending touch and care so you leave glowing from the inside out, not just the surface.

✨ Usui Reiki works with the body’s natural energy, non-invasive and deeply calming — a chance to let your nervous system exhale and simply be.

✨ Reflexology meets you through the feet, easing tension and inviting your whole body toward rest and restoration.

Whatever you choose, you’re welcome in the beautiful environment of Presence Holistics — a space to be held gently, safely, and at your own pace. 💜

Here’s to a week of softness, energy, and coming home to yourself.

Wishing you all a beautiful week ahead 🌸
