Presence Holistics Holistic Therapy at Presence Sir Walter Scott described Kelso as "the most beautiful, if not the most romatic village in Scotland."

I currently provide a range of Holistic therapies from my premises in the picturesque town of Kelso which lies at the junction of the Rivers Tweed and Teviot. Kelso remains one of the most attractive, unspoilt towns in the Borders with a Flemish-style cobbled square and a 12th century abbey. I feel privileged to be able to live and work in such a stunning part of the Scottish Borders and I am sure

you will agree Kelso is certainly worth the visit, not only for therapies I offer but for the wonderful scenery and warm welcome. Strictly by appointment only.

Please note: A failed appointment or a late cancellation (less than 24 hours notice) will result in a full fee being charged. However, if a late cancellation is due to illness the fee may be waived at the management’s discretion. If your appointment is on a Monday we require that you notify us by 10am on the previous Saturday. Repeat offenders will be asked to pay in advance for future treatments, which will be non-refundable.

Here are a few grounded strategies to help manage the common challenges of a new autoimmune diagnosis:

1. Pace Your Energy (The "Spoon Theory")
Autoimmune fatigue is entirely different from regular tiredness. Learning to budget your daily energy is crucial. Prioritise your most important tasks for when you typically feel your best, and give yourself permission to leave the rest for later. Pacing helps prevent the harsh "boom-and-bust" cycles of overexertion followed by a severe flare-up.

2. Build a Collaborative Care Team
Managing a condition like RA requires a supportive network. Look for specialist doctors (like a rheumatologist) who not only understand the clinical side of your condition but also listen to your lived experience. Complementary support from physical therapists, occupational therapists, or holistic practitioners can also help you manage physical symptoms and adapt your daily routines.

3. Track Your Symptoms and Triggers
In the beginning, everything can feel unpredictable. Keeping a simple daily log of your pain levels, energy, sleep quality, and food intake can help you spot patterns over time. This data is incredibly valuable for your medical appointments and helps you regain a sense of control over your body.

4. Lean into Community and Support
Because autoimmune diseases are often "invisible illnesses," it can be lonely trying to explain your pain to those who haven't experienced it.
