Mark Diabetes Awareness Week by getting involved in your local parkrun on Saturday 13 June.
Colleagues from our diabetes team will be taking part in the parkrun events in Aberystwyth, Haverfordwest and Llanelli and are inviting people living with diabetes, as well as friends, families and carers, to come along and join in too.
Parkrun is a free, friendly 5km community event where you can walk, jog, run, volunteer or simply cheer others on. It’s open to all ages and abilities, making it an easy and welcoming way to get active and connect with others.
Being physically active can play an important role in managing diabetes and reducing the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Taking part in something like parkrun can also support your overall health and wellbeing, whatever your starting point.
Whether you’re already involved or thinking about taking part for the first time, you’ll receive a warm welcome. There are 11 parkrun events across Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire every Saturday, as well as junior parkruns for children and families on Sundays.
If you’d like to join, register at www.parkrun.org.uk and bring your personal barcode on the day. Events usually start at 9:00am, so check your local event page for details and arrive in good time.
