What’s in a name?

Why The Entourage Effect instead of Ross McMillan supplements and therapies…

It’s not just a random collection of fancy words.

And it’s nothing to do with the hit US TV show…

Read our article in the comments for a bit of science, a bit of theory, and a little bit of the history behind the name of my company.

It’s not just a business— it’s a movement.

The Entourage Effect— what’s in a name?

This is one of the questions we get most often…

“What did you call your business that?”

The name comes from a scientific term to describe the synergy of harmonious elements working together…

Used by scientist to describe the different effects of whole-cannabis compared to isolated compounds.

It’s a great transferable principle that applies across many fields—

Like human cooperation, whole foods, and systems level wellness.

Sometimes the body doesn’t send you a neat little message saying:

“Hello, your nervous system is overloaded.”

It sends pain.

Tension.

Breath-holding.

Jaw clenching.

A tight chest.

A churning stomach.

Urgency.

IBS-type symptoms.

This is why, with KCR and Connective Tissue Release, we don’t just focus on where the symptoms are shouting the loudest.

We zoom out.

We look at the whole body.

The tension patterns.

The compensation.

The bracing.

The way the nervous system and physical structure are communicating with each other.

Because the symptom might be showing up in the gut, the back, the neck, the hips, or the shoulders…

But the deeper question is:

What is the whole system trying to tell us?

Ever notice when you are already stressed, anxious, or under pressure—

You are heading to an important interview.

You’re running late for a meeting.

Or waiting for bad news…

That your digestive system suddenly decides to get involved?

Maybe you get a little windy.

Your stomach starts to churn like a washing machine.

Or at the worst possible moment, you have to take a sh*t—
like, right now!

…It’s not random

Your brain and gut are in constant communication through the nervous system via the vagus nerve.

So when your system detects stress, pressure, or threat…
your gut is often first to get the message.

But it’s not really about digestion.

Many of the “symptoms” we experience are actually just signals.

Signals that the nervous system is overloaded.
Signals that the body is under pressure.
Signals that the system has shifted out of regulation and into protection.

That might show up as:
digestive issues,
shallow breathing,
tight shoulders,
jaw tension,
headaches,
poor sleep,
irritability,
brain fog,
or feeling like you’re constantly on edge.

That’s why we don’t only look at the place where the symptom appears.

Because a gut issue isn’t usually just a gut issue.

Tight shoulders aren’t just a shoulder issue.

And poor sleep isn’t just poor sleep.

They can all be downstream signs that the nervous system is carrying more load than it can comfortably manage.

At The Entourage Effect, we work with the whole system—

Helping the body feel safer,
Reducing unnecessary tension,
Regulating more effectively,
And moving back toward balance.

Because symptoms aren’t random.
They’re communication.

What are yours trying to say?

02/06/2026

This is exactly why I work the way I do.

Because people rarely arrive with one neat, isolated problem.

They arrive with pain, tension, restricted movement, stress, poor sleep, old injuries, protective patterns, compensation, fatigue, and a nervous system that has often been carrying too much for too long.

So I don’t just look at the sore bit.

I look at the whole system.

How the body is bracing.

How the structure is adapting.

How the nervous system is protecting.

How one area may be compensating for another.

That’s why treatments like Kinetic Chain Release and Connective Tissue Release make so much sense to me.

They’re not about chasing symptoms one by one.

They’re about giving the full body and nervous system a chance to let go, reorganise, and relax.

Pain. Posture. Mobility. Breath. Tension. Stress.

They’re rarely as separate as we’ve been taught to think.

This is a big part of why we implement full body treatments like Kinetic Chain Release.

Rather than just treating the “sore bit” in isolation.

Pain, tension, posture, breath, digestion, sleep, jaw clenching, stress responses — they often tell a bigger story about the whole system.

So instead of just chasing warning lights.

We’re servicing the full machine.

Most people think their headache is a head problem.

Their digestion issues are a gut problem.

Their jaw clenching is a dental problem.

And their insomnia is a sleep problem.

And sometimes, of course, symptoms need checked out properly—
Especially anything new, severe, or worrying.

But a lot of the time, symptoms are more like the lights on a dashboard.

The oil light doesn’t mean the dashboard is broken…
And the check engine warning doesn’t mean the bulb is faulty.

It means something elsewhere in the system needs attention.

Your body works the same way.

A sensitive gut.
A tight chest.
A clenched jaw.
A sore head.
Broken sleep.
A short temper.
Or a body that just won’t settle.

Different warning lights.
Same system under load.

Most people try to silence each light separately.
Antacids for the gut.
Painkillers for the head.
A sleeping pill for bedtime.
They all have their place.

But if the system underneath is still under pressure—

You might as well just be removing bulbs from your dashboard.

That’s why we don’t just chase symptoms.

We look at the system creating them.

A good treatment doesn’t exist in isolation.

The work we do on the table matters, of course.

But so does what happens before and after.

The way someone feels when they walk through the door.

Whether they feel rushed, judged, or listened to.

Whether they have time to sit, breathe, settle, chat, and slowly come back into themselves before heading back out into the world.

That’s why The Entourage Effect was built as more than just a treatment room.

It’s a space where people can feel safe enough to relax — and often, that’s where the real work begins.

Please share this with anyone you think could use that kind of space.

A slower pace.

A deeper breath.

One more cuppa.

Conversations that don't feel rushed.

Somewhere you don't have to explain yourself.

A place where nobody is watching the clock.

Permission to sit a little longer.

To stay for one more chat.

To laugh a little louder.

To put down the weight of the world for a while.

To stop performing.

To stop pretending.

And just be yourself again.

That’s the Entourage Effect.

What story do your face and your posture tell?
27/05/2026

What story do your face and your posture tell?

You can often tell a lot about someone from the lines on their face.

People who smile a lot tend to develop laughter lines and crow’s feet.

People who spend years stressed, tense, or frowning—
Often wear those patterns too.

Not because emotions are “stored in the face”—
But because the things we do repeatedly leave their mark over time.

The body adapts to the patterns we live in most often—
Not just our faces.

The way we sit.
The way we stand.
The way we brace.
The way we breathe.
Even the position we sleep in.

Over time, these patterns become familiar to the nervous system.

Well-worn paths.

But because it adapts to whatever state we repeatedly live in.

Just like walking the same trail through grass eventually creates a visible path…
Repeated stress, tension, injury, emotion, and movement patterns slowly shape the body over time.

But importantly—
Patterns can change.

When the body feels safe enough to regulate,
move,
breathe,
and let go of unnecessary tension—

those old holding patterns can begin to soften too.

That’s why we focus on:
Movement,
Regulation,
Relaxation,
And Recovery,

Not just chasing symptoms in isolation.

Because the body reflects the life the nervous system has adapted to.

One of the big shifts we have noticed over the last few years is people realising that health & wellness isn’t just some optional luxury for people with spare time and disposable income.

It’s necessary maintenance.

But most of us are probably running ourselves a little closer to empty than we like to admit.

We are not machines— and even the best machines need a little oil every now and then.

Make sure you are getting fuelled, tuned, and serviced regularly.

And if you are not sure what you need— feel free to pay a visit or drop a message to your friendly local neighbourhood body-shop: The Entourage Effect!

We used to think Health & Wellness was a luxury.

Something you did when you had spare time.

A massage.
A yoga class.
A weekend away.

More of a treat— like a trip to the cinema, or a fancy meal— than a necessity.

But during the last few years it’s become more obvious that we can’t treat our health as an afterthought.

Many of us still have loved ones who believe healthcare is just going to the Dr when you are already unwell.

And modern medicine is truly incredible—
But some things even the miracle of medicine can’t fix.

Health shouldn’t just be something we try to fix once it has gone wrong.

And wellness shouldn’t just be about healing from illness…
Or the odd special treat.

It’s about maintenance.
Capacity.
And resilience.

We charge our phones daily.
Service our cars.
Put air in our tyres.
And (hopefully) top up the fuel BEFORE the light comes on. (no shade if you don’t— you are in good company here)

Health & Wellness isn’t a luxury…

It’s the daily maintenance that keeps you running smoothly—
And prevents you from breaking down or crashing.

That’s why people come to The Entourage Effect—

Daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance for mind, body, and nervous system.

Different symptoms. One system.

What do you forget about when you walk through our door?
24/05/2026

What do you forget about when you walk through our door?

The Doorway Effect

Have you ever walked into a room—
And immediately forgot why you went in there?

It’s a bit like that at The Entourage Effect.

Except, instead of forgetting why they came—

Our customers often completely forget how tense, stressed, or overwhelmed they were, before they walked through the door.

You can sometimes even see it happen in front of your eyes…

Their shoulders drop a little.

The pace of conversation slows down.

1 cuppa turns into 2.

And for a little while— whatever was was weighing on their mind…

Becomes a foggy, distant memory.

That’s The Entourage Effect.
